    Panspermia theory:
Cosmic ancestry is a serious scientific theory, that proposes living organisms were 'seeded' on Earth as 'passengers' aboard comets and meteors. Such incoming organisms would have to survive the heat of re-entry.

    Ocean Surface (Tidal Pools) Theory:
This popular theory suggests that life arose in a tidalpool, pond or on moist clay on the primeval Earth. Gases from volcanoes would have been energised by U.V. light or electrical discharges to form prebiotic molecules in froth. These molecules are seem to be the starters of life.

These are the two most common theories of the Origin of Life. Which do you agree on?

    Or did both happen?

First can't be proven until we actually find life somewhere else, capable of enduring space. Second is a bit more probable because we can create basic organic molecules in labs.

/can't wait for the Creationist to burst in.

They have found organic material from mars, and from meteors.

You do realize that from a chemical perspective, organic just means "containing carbon". I mean there are a few exception, like Co2, but otherwise it really doesn't mean much.

What I meant was that they actually managed to make the basic building blocks and even simple (not full-functioning) nucleic acids.

I've pretty much given up on these topics, there are so many theories out there and anyone can make a theory. We can make educated guesses, but the end we will never be 100% of a conclusion. Im still sticking to the theories I feel most strongly about.

    How hilarious.

I'm guessing in the first theory, they're basing it off meteoroids. But I wouldn't stop it at there, i'm pretty sure there are other ways that material could get to earth.

The first theory sounds slightly silly at first, but on second thought it's kind of like self-pollination of trees. I need to watch that series when I have time.

As fir the second theory that's what I learned in biology and it really makes sense, and I remember two guys made an experiment re-creating the atmosphere of the ancient earth and with the proper energy they formed an organic protein...
