Does pornography make men see woman as sex objects? Rather than human beings?

The impacts of pornography have been concerning me lately, but I'm still undecided about it.

It would honestly depend on the type of pornography.

Some types of pornography, the simple answer is yes. This has a spectrum from Hardcore, all the way to BDSM.

Other types of pornography that is not hardcore, but more "normal," does not distort mens perception on women to a point where it becomes troublesome. Anyone who hangs around with girls knows that they are not sex objects.

    yes
we see images that represent real women to us.
these images emphasize their different body parts as being important.
this is similar to how women in the media are more likely to emphasize their body than their face when compared to adverts of men.

personally, i think this makes finding a genuine female a nice surprise. (as opposed to a female who emphasizes her body as much as porn does)

The fact that EVERY single scene has to end with cumming on the face really doesn't help the situation lol

Really depends. Some pornography doesn't end with cum on the face. Some on other parts. But oh well, it's pornography after all. IMO, Asians are the ones that 'cum inside' which makes me thing as if it's a normal sex rather than a pornography.

Depends what kind of porn in some cases. All porn does for me is make me suggest things to my gf that causes her not talk to me all afternoon.

Good question, I think it does. Its why all men see women for there physical attributes over personal.

you know there is such a thing as tasteful pornography right?
there's also a thing called X-Art.. which is essentially art in nude human form, but is also considered pornography.

I think we're just jaded by the internet and all it's terrible terrible things.

Tbh I would have to agree with tehctrl on this one, both men and women participate in pornography, women might just be a bit more discreet with it. I know for a fact woman are more likely to read extremely erotic stories and such, something a man wouldn't do but something that also skews the perception of a real relationship.

In all fairness I believe that MOST men don't actually think the pizzaman gets laid every time he delivers a pizza, otherwise that job would be far more competitive, LOL. If someone is watching pornography and like certain things that they see, they already had those ideas or similar ones to begin with otherwise they would find it weird or unsatisfying to watch.

I think it does help with real relationships by allowing you to be more adventurous in your sexual activities, and although in some cases it subjects woman to a lower standard or persona than they actually are in real life, as feminism advances I'm beginning to think that there are quite a few things out there that subject men as well, in an almost reverse of the ordinary direction of sexism in our society.

    Offtopic@shey:
The pizzaman can get laid when he delivers a pizza LOL I've seen it happen working at Domino's in BG. It's never happened to me cuz I don't deliver, but It's happened to someone I work with.

    BackonTopicAddition:
Men are also objectified by dirty pornography to be honest. It's not just women that are looked at like sex dolls. Many porn addict women look at men as no more than a dildo with a body attached to it.

Men and women ignorant enough to let something like porn cause them to objectify a gender would have done so at some point without watching it anyway.

I think it's more of a way for men to see women for their physical attributes. Only extreme types, where the girl is basically the guy's sex whore, does it inspire a feeling of... superiority?

I too am concerned about it, and the addictiveness it gives to guys.

    Irrelevant...

Not every one does. But that is one example in which the man feels highly superior to the woman, as he gets to basically embarrass her to a disgusting level.

Not all men see women for their physical attributes over personal. If that were so, why are so many extremely unattractive, obese, and otherwise disgusting women married? It's because men can value personal over looks.

    I agree.

    Good points.

What the heck? Absolutely no justification for this.

Porn is nothing more than entertainment and a way to view your fantasies. If you're ignorant enough to let it affect and alter your life, I say you were doomed from the start anyway.

What kind of man, or woman, would let something so insignificant effect them in such a massive way? I've watched my share of pornography...And I've never thought of a REAL woman this way.

    Fantasies are fantasies.

For your statement to be valid we must all first agree that porn is a depiction of fantasies.

Most of the porn is not fantasy.

So maybe your ignorant for classifying porn as purely fantasy, or your just undereducated.

While others have expressed their views, I feel that citing you directly will be of the best effect.

So, does pornography present women as sex toys? Sure it does, but if you hang out with girls, you know better than to take it for granted. I don't see this having a profound effect on most individuals, and hands down it's a multi billion-dollar industry, there's no stopping it.
