Does anybody know, and can explain to me where the "arrow to the knee" joke originated from?? It is seriously ALL over Youtube, but I never understood where it came from and whether it is random or is a joke reference to something.

 

In the video game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, guards will usually say stuff to you as you walk past them. Sometimes the guards will say "I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took an arrow to the knee."


And so the horrible joke telling began

 

I love this video; the joke used to be really funny, now it's just overused, and repetitive.
