    Howdy partners.

Recently I noticed a bit of "illicit" activity on the forums and in game, and I thought it might be nice to throw my two cents into the hat and reveal my hand.

I strive to be a good man in life, in love, and even on here. Below you are going to find a gentleman's guide to being a gentlemen. You may not agree with everyone stated here, and that's alright as this is a place for discussion, but I ask you do not flame or troll it.

    Being a Gentleman on Sythe
A wise man once said there is no honor among thieves. Though I'd argue he's usually correct, he doesn't always have to be. Here are a few rules that I personally observe when dealing with Sythe and it's members.

    1. Never scam.
    2. Never deceive.
    3. Take only what you need (from friends, or from the community).
    4. Always say please, and thank you, whenever it is appropriate.
    5. If you're given a service, tip well.
    6. If you're sold a good, say good things about the seller.
    7. Never accuse with a lack of evidence.
    8. Keep swearing to a minimum.
    9. Always stand up for a friend.
    10. When an elder speaks, listen.
    11. Accept your punishment and learn from it, if given one.
    12. Never beg.
    13. Treat all others as your equal, no matter their race, religion, gender, sexual preference, political affiliation, or economical situation.
    14. Always remain calm.
    15. Never encourage illicit behavior.

    Being a Gentleman on RuneScape
All of the above apply here, plus the following:

    1. Never lure.

Because this is extremely controversial, I will make my case for it. Luring involves deceiving a random person into doing something they wouldn't do normally, either by accident or ignorance. The only thing I can compare luring to is scamming in that you take an unwilling person's items and give them nothing in return except embarrassment and frustration. It's not polite, certainly not honorable, and quite possibly bannable. Gentlemen take only what they've earned, they never steal.

Being a Gentleman in Real Life
This is something I'm going to leave up to the community for now, and I'll add it in a couple of days. It is already written, but I'm curious to see how the community perceives a gentleman in real life.

I love a good discussion. Why not post what you perceive is a gentleman's duties in real life? Does it go beyond taking care of his woman? Does he need to be strong in the face of danger, but compassionate in times of agony?

I also implore everyone here to challenge my claims, or add their own.

There's nothing to really intellectually debate here.

    Moved to General Discussion.

What does that mean, though? Also, is derogatory language necessary to describe the quality of the personality?

you assume everybody wants to be a gentlemen.

i think you might be underestimating the selfishness of people, i doubt a scammer will read this thread and be like " oh man dude i have been doing this all wrong".This will change nothing

your definition of gentleman i think is incorrect or perhaps biased, i could be a conman but still be a gentleman could i not? i gentleman usually refers to either 1. a man in general or 2. a man who is well mannered/ helpful/ gentle

you are decribing what i would consider a "good guy"

    5. If you're given a service, tip well.- what if my service sucked or i don't have much money
    6. If you're sold a good, say good things about the seller.- unless the seller scammed me then i would deem it acceptable to tell others that he is not a good seller and to not buy from
    11. Accept your punishment and learn from it, if given one.-if i am unjustly given ounishment i will fight it
    12. Never beg.-why?
    14. Always remain calm.- a gentleman cant get angry?
