Just wondering what everyones views were on this and what people thought of how much or how LITTLE power the queen has and what has she ever done with it?

I agree. The UK needs no monarch. They're just useless figureheads.

The queen is a figurehead with little power, little purpose and waste of taxpayers money. Thats how i see it. Why would you want one of those in your country?

Since when does being in a family give power to the best and just people?

The queen does nothing. It's a waste of money... They should have to work their asses off just like everyone else. Just because her family was powerful generations ago, doesn't mean she should be powerful now... Just my point of view.

Monarchy is part of the UK's history, and I highly doubt they will be changing any time soon. Technically, while I do think it's all for show, it isn't all that terrible. There are many other worse forms of government. If the people are happy with it, then that's all that matters.

Just to add some facts about the monarchy..

The queen tried to oppose one of tony blair's policies he was putting through... using her 'POWER' . Tony Blair (or another recent prime minister not 100%) decided to go the other route and went through parliament where this policy was passed and hence proving the queen has none or limited power.

She has a powerful opinion however but the power she possesses is debatable if she 'the most powerful being in the uk' can be defied so simply...

I wouldn't give a fuck what the queen says. She's just someone in a damn family.

    Good example.

Being from the UK myself i feel that its completely stupid to have ONE family out of millions to be treated in such respect. Complete BOLLOCKS. i mean they dont deserve all the attention they are given.

...which are also remnants of what is a nearly non-existant culture. They have sentimental value to being "British", so why not keep them where they are - as "useless figureheads".

I don't really care as long as she stays out of the way of the real goverment and doesnt try to use her "power" to change anything.

She doesn't just get paid by us also, she makes money with her name on it, a.k.a Royalties. And She meets with the Prime Minister i think its every other Thursday

Its her country, don't you think she has rights to do whatever she wants?

Also, another comment about the queen.. plotting to kill the Queen is the only crime that can be resolved in the criminals death

I really don't like the idea of a king of queen.
It's just wrong to let someone be the leader of the country just because she is he or she is destined to.
But having a leader also has a benefit. It really improves your countries relation with other countries. This surely improves the economy.
If I really had a choice, I would abolish most kinds of government.
I just want to live in a safe and free country, that's all.

It's been like this for hundreds of years, not going to change.

It's working out fine for now.
