I think that you should not get in trouble for sending pics of people over 16, they're not babies and can take care of themselves.

Yes. Which is why this man should go to jail on charges of child pornography.

It should be illegal to send any pictures of naked people under the age of 18 on cellular phones.

but usually the person sending the picture of themselves naked know the risks of the consequences

for the guy in the story though,he is a wanker.she trusted him that she wouldnt show his mates any of the pics and just because they broke up he thinks that gives the right to show his mates.tat complete bullsh*t

So, you're saying if an eight year old girl took nude pictures of herself, then gave them to a pedophile, who distributed them amongst his friends, the pedophile is completely innocent?

All he did was give a picture that was his to somebody else. I don't see anything wrong there.

The picture was given to him as a gift, and when you receive a gift then you are able to do with it as you please. So yes. he would be innocent.

So you believe that the distribution of child pornography is O.K. then?

The specific post that he said was that if an 8 year old takes a picture of herself, and sends it to someone knowingly, then the guy gave it to his friends, he would be innocent.

So in that case, its alright. Now if someone forces someone to take nudes of themselves and send it to them, then no thats not ok.

You must not know the definition of child pornography.

    This should help you out.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00002256----000-.html

It is illegal. End of story. Whether they knew the consequences or not.

I do know the definition of child pornography, which is what we are discussing here. Why should someone get in trouble for being curious about their body and others, when it is completely natural?

No, we are discussing whether or not sending child pornography over the phone is illegal or not, which it is illegal.

Because it's against the law. I don't think it's immoral, but it's against the law. We are discussing the law here, not whether the law is right.

If your over 18, so be it. Under 18, it's C.P. and you should go to jail for it.

Honestly, instead of sending pictures and pretending, just do it. It's much more pleasing.

Actually since im the op, i say we are discussing if the law is right. Why would we just be discussing the law without discussing if its right? Thats just idiotic and a waste of time.

You can go to jail for sex with a minor, also.

    Sexting, breaking a law?

The title is asking if "Sexting" is breaking a law. Not whether or not it should be breaking a law/if child pornography is ok or not.

People don't read the first post in a multi-paged thread. You should make the title less misleading sometimes.

Anywho, if the girl gives it to the guy he doesn't really have the right to spread it around. Second hand child pornography should be illegal.

I updated it for the members who could not understand.

Why doesn't he have the right to do with it what he wants? She gave it to him as a gift, which with anything else means that he can do with it as he pleases.

Depending on the laws in your state.

Here in Florida, an 18 year old can have legal sex with a 14 year old, because one partner must be of legal age and both have to be within 4 years of age of eachother.

Possession of it would be illegal to begin with, consensual or not.

You can get cocaine for free, and then give it out for free, and still be charged with possession and dealing.

If sending pictures of yourself nude to someone else causes someone to become physicologically unstable then I do see a reason they should have restrictions on such a thing.
