September 11th, 2001. Do you Remember?

i think it was 3rd grade, my mom was watching the news before she took us to school. Right before she turned off the TV, it came on. We never ended up going to school that day. I remember she was freakin out, because my aunt and uncle work near their, and she couldn't get in contact with them.

    Questions:
    1. How old were you? I was 9
    2. Where were you at? In class here in New York.

I remember all the teachers gathering up talking, and then a teacher from another class just started crying. Had no clue what was going on. Every time i see the footage i get chills.

I was in 5th grade, 8 years goes by so quickly. How long will it be until the next generation doesn't know or remember what happened that day.. much like a "Pearl Harbor". On another note, much respect towards those families, they feel it every day rather than once a year.

I was in 4th grade at the time sitting in the lunch room and I saw it happen on the TV. It was pretty shocking when I found out what had really happened (terrorists blah blah)

A dickload of the kids in my school were picked up early and stuff lol, there was literally only like 100 kids left in school by the end of the day.

I was in kindergarten about to go to p.e. class and the p.e. teacher said an airplane crashed into the twin towers. And like 10 minutes later another one hit. I was too young to understand the irony of that day, but, now as I look back, I'm proud to say I'm American and fight through terrorism bull shit.

I can remember it very well. I was at work with my mum cleaning in a school and all the teachers and I were watching it on TV in the music room.

To advance myself, or for my own personal enjoyment. Pretty much.

How does being a part of another culture change anything? Who said I hate the USA?

Well, why should we remember them? It seems pointless to me, as it doesn't contribute to now or the future. There is far too much of a fuss around it is what I'm saying though. Remember it, sure, but don't annoy me or others who are similar in the process by bringing it up every year like it actually makes a difference NOW.

To put it in one word: Exactly. I don't see any threads remembering the Japanese that died in Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Not that I'd care, but none the less. Why only remember people because they're in your country? Why not remember the Germans under Hitler's reign who died? It's the same principle, so why not? There are memorial services for WW1 and WW2, but they are only remembering the soldiers for a particular nation. I really don't see the sense in it.

What is important is here and now; 8 years is a long enough time for people to move on.

Swan is atheist (I think, but mostly positive), bringing that argument would help nothing.

Also, Christmas is just a time to get together with friends and family. It's pretty much backed up nationally because school is out, mostly people are off of work, so they actually contribute to the cause of togetherness.

I was in third grade... The teachers read us shit when it happened... Thats basically all I remember. I think we just had a normal day after that...

But. I agree with Swan. I do not see any big deal with going over it every year. I really do not see a point...

I was 5 and attended Kindergarten. I really didn't understand much, but I understood that we were under attack. I remember waking up and my dad hurried me into the room to show me. The news said it was an accident, but was an apparent terrorist attack after the second plane hit. I think we should dwell and remember 9-11. It makes us care and appreciate, and that advances us as humans. It makes us prepared and get along with each other better. If you don't live in America, then you just don't understand at all (even loving America from another country).

    I was in 4th grade, I believe.
I was in my 4th grade english class.

My teacher's husband was in there that day. We were watching it on the news with her while she cried. They had to take us out of the class.

In all honesty, I don't blieve there's a reason to "remember" it every year. It happened, we all know, but it's been 8 years. Shouldn't we be over the shock by now? I know, people died that day, but people die every day.

Hmm.. I remember this pretty clearly.

I was 6, and I was in class. We had just gotten back from lunch and my teacher had a nervous break down.

    I'm just like lolwat.

When I got home my parents are like so yeah plane crashed into the twin towers. I was like oh shit awesome.

If I were my age then I would have had a panic attack and so forth for weeks most likely.

I was in grade 1, we went outside and did the a prayer or some of the sort. Then the school sent us all home because we all lived in that small town and they just let our parents come get us.

I was in second grade, so I was 8.
My father was actually in Washington D.C. on business (he was in a meeting in a building just a few blocks away from the Pentagon).
My mother actually pulled me out of school because she was worried about my dad (I guess most of the cell phone lines were jammed so she couldn't reach him).
We finally got in touch with him that night when we learned he had took a stolen a rental car (since it would've been extremely hard getting a flight out) and was on his way back home (to Michigan)

I'm in the UK. I was in year 3? So I'd have been 8 or summit. I remember finding out about it the day after it happened at school on a wet rainy day (welcome to England). xD
