Sticky Suggestion - RS2 General

After every Runescape update the RS2 General section receives a fair few amount of threads regarding the update. My suggestion is that a discussion thread should be stuck in that section so threads like "I hate this new update" or "What do you think of x" occur every week. The section is not cluttered with stickies and would reduce the amount of spam threads.

 

Seems look a good idea.

 

I support this idea. When a new update comes out, the section gets bombed with threads about it, and it soon becomes hard to get around, and overall messy.

 

I took a look at the section and it is not cluttered with sticky's, if this could reduce the spam in the section, I support it.

No support, those threads promote healthy discussion so there is no reason to contain them. There are lots of different topics that people are requesting stickies for, but I really don't see why. They are part of the discussion in the section, why are you trying to limit them?

 

Stickies kill activity. I'd rather the place be active with a ton of threads than deader with just one going.

 

I see you're point, but having 10 threads, with the same topic after each update is quite annoying.
A sticky for that topic (the updates) would reduce the spam, so I don't see any harm in it.

 

RS2 General won't die. RS members is the majority of this forum imo.
All the extra spam threads take up pages, which makes finding, or using more important stuff harder.

Sure, you have a point, then again, that same discussion happens 5-10 times. Make someone active in the RS2 Gen. section make a thread about "New Updates" have them briefly explain it and such, and people discuss it in there. We're limiting them because if they look two thread down, you see the same exact thing.

 

Yes, but if you start limiting the discussions like with a sticky it will effect its activity, and there is no reason to do that.

I still stand by my point, there is no reason to limit discussion.

 

How about we just only allow the first thread about a particular update (I mean that's how its been done in the past, anyways).

 

And the others will be considered spam?

Other Idea:
Make a thread where people can discuss the recent updates, just don't sticky it?

I guess this will work. There were a fair few threads created about the new "Obby Maul" update.

But will the posters receive any infractions, so will they be handled as spam?
