My dds pure (was a mauler)

Hi all.
This account 'Mauling Rage' was originally created as a edgeville pker, back in the good 'ole days. After finally getting mithril gloves (maxing out RFD for a 1 defence pure) i decided to try out my account at pking. Without much real experience, i patched together a quick demo video compilation of some good kills and high hits. I am unsure of the stats at the time, but my max hit was around 25.

After the wilderness was removed, i concentrated more on my tank staker, winning a little over 16m total. Hearing rumours of staking being removed as well, my membership ended, so i decided not to renew it, until i was sure what was happening. I transferred it all on to my main (barrow pure), and effectively quit my staking account - just intime, because trade caps had been anounced a week or so later, and Jagex was on the lookout for all big trades..

With only 500k or so on my mauler, BH was starting to thrive in p2p, so i thought i may as well give it a go. At a combat level of only 63, mauling wasnt much fun - as most pkers protected melee, and smited me (34 prayer at the time). I found it very hard to get any kills (compared to edgeville, where i dominated), and ended up losing more money than i made.

Seeing as the trusty DDS was the weapon of choice for most people, i decided that if i was to progress at all in BH, i would have to follow suit. I was very hesitant, and posted a thread on Sythe to see peoples opinions on whether to convert my Mauler into a dds pure. Most people simply said 'yeh, do dds ftw' but others felt the 'pure mauler' approach as the best.

The ancient mauler doesnt do as well in BH as it did at edgeville. having tried and failed, i decided to go against my urge, and bite the bullet. I did Lost City quest, and got 75 strength. I went on to complete The Grand Tree and Tree Gnome Village, in preparation for Monkey Madness. After getting 60 attack, and maxing out on all attack-xp-giving quests, i went to get 43 prayer, and 78 strength. This left me one level from maxing out 67 combat - allowing me to pk, still gain a level inside, whilst allowing me to continue pking before i hit 68 combat, which is the end of the lower crater.

I could have done Desert Treasure and Monkey Madness, but either would have practically been a waste, as neither would be of any use to me. A Dragon Scimitar would simply be a waste, as it would protect over a dds - losing me 35k every time i die. Sure, this is techniquely 1 iteming, but it is a liability to carry more than one item, as no one else does anyway.

Maybe after i reach 68 combat, i will explore all my options - as for now, i am currently a non-member - my membership runs out tomorrow, just intime for me to complete this article. I will probably just hang around Clan Wars with my clan Malice, or pk on my barrow pure - until i feel like dds'ing again.

i personally dont see anything special in it but i guess it owned when pking so 8/10 for a pure like 4/10 for a main

thanks - as i said though, ancients is useless for low crater - noone uses it, and everyone just prays. so it is a waste of time for me.

A DDS pure is kind of pointless without P2P.
