The Account Merge Feature Will Hit Fortnite Early Next Year

Recently, Epic announced that they've delayed its account-merging tool, which it planned to launch prior to the finish of November. Now, it truly is telling fans that it will not have the tool ready till sometime in 2019.

For those who're waiting for the chance to bring together your fortnite save the world items from the PlayStation 4 version and the other versions together under one account, this will be a undesirable news for them because they must wait to get a while.

The merge tool is required as a result of Sony. Before September, Fortnite players required a separate PlayStation 4 account. It would operate using the mobile and Computer releases of Fortnite, but not the other consoles. This meant in the event you created a obtain around the Switch, it wouldn't carry more than for the PS4.

But Sony reversed that policy in September, and that enabled Epic to begin launching new, unified accounts. Existing players with bespoke profiles would wait for the merge tool. And now, they'll wait even longer.

"Due to some ongoing technical issues, we are going to be delaying the Account Merge function till the early subsequent year," reads a Fortnite Group weblog post. "We would like to make certain that this procedure is completely tested and operating appropriately just before releasing it to those of you at present trying to transfer purchases from other accounts to your key account. We'll be sure to update you as we get closer for the release in the function, which will involve a net page on launch to assist guide you by means of the flow."

    What this means

This is only a problem for people who have purchased on PlayStation 4 and also on one of the other consoles. And even those players are already earning all of their current and future progressions on a single profile regardless of where they're playing. Epic's account linking ensures that it tracks that progress in a platform-agnostic way.

This delay just means old skins will stay on old accounts. They will still eventually work on your one, primary profile, but just not yet. And really, who wants to wear old skin anyhow?

How does the player react to this news?

"Is it frustrating? YES. But I do understand the implications behind it. If they were to launch this feature and it not work properly millions of accounts could potentially lose the items purchased Ect. And considering they had people un-link accounts when the announced it last time I imagine several people don't have anything on the accounts that were unlinked."

"Can I sign out of my new PS4 account, then log into my Xbox epic account to get all of my Xbox stuff onto my ps4? I don't really care about losing wins, but playing with my skins and not logging onto the Xbox just to do battle pass dailies will be nice."

"Yeah it sucks but with their record of breaking everything without thoroughly testing it first I'd rather wait and have a polished tool than to have them mistakenly lose my purchases on both accounts."
