My Internet Download Speed is currently 30kb/Sec This is a rather slugish and annoying speed. My dad doesn't understand that our connection its the SLOWESS in the entire world. So i have a problem, 1 How can i convince him to upgrade it, 2 What are the costs for 3-400 kb/ Second 3 We have our phone/Foxtel and Internet on a single plan, and apparently we cant change without re ordering all of them.. Help!?!
1)Explain it to him in real-time. Instead of explaining it as a computer speed, tell it to him like how fast you get your work done, or the speed of an airplane. 2)Look it up 3)Just re-order or forever hold ur peace
Different providers in different places...Unless he lives where you live I doubt he has ever heard of Sky as I havn't. Any of them usually do packages.
Mine just got upgraded it goes about 750KB/s off rapidshare, and almost 1100kb/s off microsoft :O Normally in England most people have 200kb/s.
I was in the same situation [ foxtell, internet & phone package ]. All we had to do is ring up Optus, say we would like to upgrade our internet plan and he changed it and was ready for the next month. You mentioned you have the package, because of this you should get a discount be sure to ask. [ I did on Optus ] In our country I think 256 / 512 / 1Gb are only speeds. I was on 256kb / s unlimited I think it was $39 a month Now am on 512kb / s and it's $49 a month But only 2Gb peak [ 12pm- 12am ] & 4gb off peak. I wish i stayed with the 256kb / s as 2gb is easy to burn up and as soon as that is used up it goes to dial up speed which is useless. I am never on off peak except for the weekends as I am at school. As for your dad. If you are in year 11 or 12. Something like, "I'm struggling to do my homework + assignment PLUS assessment tasks efficiently with this speed as we need to do hours of internet research. These 15 months shape the rest of my life and I really would appreciate it if we could get an upgrade, even if its until i finish school [ In hope that he will forget.]"

He knows what it is, But he doesn't understand that Downloading 1mb should only take a few seconds, not 5 minutes. I checked my modems to see their max capacity, They are both 20Mb+ max
I get 900kb/s+ through Telstra Broadband Cable Extreme. That's through a router/adapter as well. Downstairs gets about 1.4mb/s.

http://www.speedtest.net/ Post your speed. Im tempted to give you abuse cos Virgin only have upto 8mb speeds. And infact NO WHERE in the WHOLE OF THE UK did virgin actualy have the 8mb speed. Most were about 3.5mb. PWNT
Decent speed, I suppose. When bringing up the topic, tell him that you're using an obsolete method of connecting to the internet, one that's about 10~15 years old, I believe.
