Introduction:

This Guide is dedicated to:
-Those that want to connect to your computer but a port is closed.
-Typical uses such as: Ventrilo, Controlling your computer by another instructment (Iphone, etc).

Procedure:

1. Getting Your Default Gateway:
-You will need the default gateway to login to your router, the default is 192.168.1.1, put that in your browser if it doesn't work.
-Go to Run -> type in cmd -> enter.

-Now type ipconfig -> enter.

-Type in the default gateway into your computer

-Now It should ask for the Username/Password: By default its admin/admin with out capitalization, if you cannot get your Username/Password you MUST reinstall your router.
2. Opening Your Port:
-Click on Application and Gaming.

-You should see this.

-For this instants, I'll be opening port 3784, so you can use your own Ventrilo.
-For Application, There is no restriction on what you type it, its just reminds you what the port is for.
-Opening Ports can be dangerous so it is suggested that you open ONLY 3784 to 3784.
-For IP Address put your IPv4 Address, in IPCONFIG.
-Click Saves Changes and your port is opened

Does this work with only Linksys Routers? Or all?

 

It works with every router, just go in Q&A on their website, I just don't have the screenshot for it, but its basic concept.

thanks! i just recently had a problem with my router i bought on future shop.

 

Sweet I got my routers ports open, for some reason when the power goes out, my ports close cus my ip on my xbox changes endings.

Your port should stay open the whole time, unless you reset your router.
