    Desktop PC GFX Card Help!

I have a really old PC that I am finally going to get around upgrading the GPU...My GPU connecter is "AGP 1.5v"...

I know the Graphics Card I buy has to fit in that connecter type. But I'm unsure about this 2x/4x/8x thing. Do these numbers simply represent speeds or do I have to make sure I get a certain one? If I need a certain one, how can I be sure which one I need?

    So would this work?

The numbers do represent speeds as 8x is faster than 4x but it does not mean that a 8x AGP graphics card is always two times as quick as a 4x. It depends on your motherboard socket really. If you have a 4x AGP socket on your motherboard, you could still use a 8x graphics card, however the speed will be throttled down to 4x. So you could use a 8x AGP graphics card on a motherboard with a 2x socket, but it will most likely be extremely slow. Also, what do you use the computer for? Games or just general use, e.g. internet surfing?

Hmm... i'm not really sure how to tell them apart but it should say on the motherboard somewhere or maybe you can tell me the model you have. I think the graphics card will be fine for normal runescape but i'm not sure if it could handle runescape HD.

The sockets will normally look exactly alike, but there will be indication on your motherboard by the socket or in your motherboard's manual.

Note that while you can use a 4x card with a 2x slot, you cannot use it with an 8x slot.
