Western Union questions

it says you have to be above 18 to pick up im pretty sure, when i go they asked for I.D.

 

You can pick up WU at any age, as long as you have some form of acceptable ID. In my country, a drivers license is the best, and easiest option. When you pick it up, you need to provide your information, usually defined by each individual shop on their forms.

To make an account on WU, you need to be 18 or over.

I don't believe there is a limit to how long the money can be held. If there is, I haven't encountered it yet. Also note; if you don't pick up the money from the WU agent, the payment can be reversed, so make sure you pick up the cash before giving gold etc

I believe so yes, but just like RsProd mentioned earlier, you do need a form of ID to prove you are actually you.

Don't think School ID's count, so you're better off using a Driver's License if you have one, or a State ID if you don't have a Driver's License.

Also, like he mentioned, I do not believe payments "expire" as I've had people send me a WU payment on a Friday, and I wasn't able to pick it up until Monday, but they can cancel it if you don't pick it up, so as a precaution make sure you pick up the money before you deliver your products.

Also, in order to receive money, the only information you need to give the sender is:

-Your Full Name
-City/State/Country

You do NOT need to give more information as this, as I've had people try and squeeze more personal information about me by telling me they're trying to send me money via WU, so keep your living address, phone number, and personal emails to yourself.

Can I add on to this thread? Since I'm also wondering about Western Union. Usually how fast does it take for the money to get sent over? Is it instant?

 

There are different methods to send cash, the most common and the one you'll use on sythe is money in minutes - 10 minutes or less anywhere in the world

 

It really depends on how they send it. As Firez mentioned it could take less than 10 minutes, that is if they send the money online. If they manually travel to their WU agent it will obviously take longer, but the money still is transferred pretty much instantly. At least it did my last transaction I did. (Belgium sent to Canada manually through WU agent.)

 

to pick up you need , id and the seller should have given you the mtcn number then you show the mtcn number to the w.u branch

 

I'd like to add to this as well. I heard of being needing to show their Passports.

I've never used WU, but my first use may be a large pickup ($850+).

Would I be good with just my Driver's License? I've never owned a passport.

 

to pick up you need to be 16 have id (driving licence, school card, passport)

 

According to their live chat specialist, you don't have to be 18 to receive money, however you do need a valid ID. He also said to send you need to be 18.
