I've heard of the concept of people being frozen and in the Future, the hopes are that there will be a cure for whatever disease it is that they have, so they will be unfrozen and treated and stuff to that effect But the problem is that when something is frozen, and then unfrozen, the cells burst and die. There are some animals capable of being frozen and then unfrozen due to their having an anti-freeze type chemical in their bodies. I watched a program about how Nano Machines, if they ever came into existence, that might be able to repair cell damage as a subject becomes unfrozen. Cryogenics/Cryobiology are very Interesting topics to me and i would be astounded to see something like that happen I also heard about some companies whom are raking in like 100K per person to freeze, i don't know if it's true or not but it gives some false hope i guess =\ Neways, What do you all think about Cryogenics? Nanobots=Possible? And are the people being frozen by companies, (if it's true), being given false hope about what the future holds (possible cures or methods will become available)? And sorry for the vague information on this subject, but it just came to me so i posted it, i will research some more after school or something

no it snot possible, the heart would stop beat and once the brain stops geting blood it will shut off and couldnt be restarted, the moment your brain doesnt get blood for lnog period of time u die
When frozen, cells stop all cellular functions, and don't need oxygen. As I have said, embryos that are artificially planted into a uterus are frozen beforehand.
Would have to agree with shredder, the functions of the body stop. So your body doesn't need oxygen untill restarted, So you can stop and restart.
I'm talking about Full Adult Freezing/Unfreezing mainly(for hopes of Cures in the Future/Re-Animation), Embryos consist of different substances and would most likely withstand it seeing it is on such a small scale and is just full of the chemicals necesssary to begin life and the membrane surrounding the embryo is able to expand, when you freeze something like a human then unfreeze it the Liquids burst all the cells due to expansion and ultimately cause the cell to die. I seen it, when a brain was frozen and then unfrozen, it deteriorated into a pile of mush
That is true, but the main reason that life cannot withstand freezing is that the liquids inside cells crystallize when frozen too quickly. What is the solution? Lower the temperature at about 1 degree Centigrade per minute. That is fast enough to be plausible, yet it doesn't crystallize the liquid. That's not what either of us are saying...
Yes but unfreeze too slow and you'll end up with a dead subject, at a certain point, functions will begin to resume and since your cells will regain function before you actually do means they'll die anyways from no oxygen and no circulation. And since everything unthaws from the outside to the inside your bodily functions will not be all functional at the same, thus killing your functions off systematically
*note* all the people who have done this, are stupid, but i evny there hope of waking up in the future. there really is no hope for cryogenics. it is impossible. and if it isnt? well i dont know what to say. i wouldnt wanna wake up in 100 years +, a new world, new everything. no thanks.
That's not how you are unfrozen. Generally, the difference between the outside and the inside of your body is very little, and will not result in death.
Doesn't change the fact that when water freezes it expands which will inevitably destroy tissue in the process of freezing. Also even if the remperature does seem insignificant, even a little rise or drop in our current body temperature can result in very harmful effects. Sure you can freeze at a slower rate, but just cause you went about it by a different means won't change the properties of water in your cells. It would probably be even worse since you'd die while you froze which would completely negate the purpose of being frozen in the first place. That is true. When water freezes, it does expand due to the structure it assumes when solid. Although, the substances inside the human body aren't pure water, so I don't really know how they would react to freezing. The temperature will affect it, since rapid freezing results in the liquid forming sharp crystals which rupture the cell walls. Slow freezing can avoid this. Well, generally, when people freeze to death, I think their body stops functioning, while still needing nutrients. The heart stops beating, but the cells still need oxygen, so they die. When freezing cryogenically, the body can be chilled to a level that almost eliminates the oxygen requirements of their body, and then be physically frozen so as to completely eliminate them. Cryoprotectant, eh? Almost like antifreeze. Interesting idea, and it sounds familiar...
The water may freeze, but it will not form of crystal due to the fact there really isn't that many pure forms of water in the system, instead it will be in the blood, and if frozen correct it will only puncture the tissue so it can be repaired later. But all water can never be removed. But maybe if we could controll the navigation and places where the water was it would have smaller effects. It wouldn't form complete crystals since it isn't pure water, it may have sharp points, but only in areas where there is a large percentage of water.
Do you think its possible to replace the bad cells that were killed when unfrozen with Stem cells? I mean, it would be alot of them, and take along time. But would it work?
how? explain your view. how do you think freezing yourself and waking up 100+ years in the future is possible.
