do grind rails need engineer approval?

Just a question, if i was to make skate equipment such as grind rails and funboxes do they need to be passed by engineers or anything to be legal for sale... as in to check if they are safe enough etc or should i just conduct private testing on them to check the stability ?

basically i have made prototypes of both little skate funboxes and adjustable height/length grind rails and was just wondering if there is some kind of approval they would need before sale in Australia or if i can just release them as is.

BTW i have a registered ABN and all the taxation etc has been sorted out im just not sure about whether they need approval or not...

 

U shouldn't need to. But getting the designs and structure checked out could improve sales and would be good if someone tried to sue you. You would be able to say the the ramp was check and approve by a certified engineer.

 

True but a disclaimer stating all injuries are the person using the rails own fault SHOULD cover that i think...

 

if u got a bit of money spare you should ask a lawyer to look into it and check all laws and rules of selling home-made objects and selling for money.

But at least your smart enough to consider the consequences of selling un-approved items that could possibly hurt u

 

It isn't going to be home made... I am hiring someone to start producing them for me in a few weeks... If all goes to plan and they are legal i will have 25 funboxes and 25 adjustable rails produced in the first run and just see how they sell. As well as stickers and a few items of clothing... but all that is irrelevant..

The key thing to remember is that unlike most of sythe i am NOT 13 years old and actually have a mind that can understand business and how it works

 

Yea, kinda guessed that since u have an ABN. If there produced in the factory setting and not home made and have the disclaimer you shouldn't have a problem. I'm gonna get an ABN when I turn 18. Woot to Business
