    The Basics of Snow Skiing

    Content:
    1. The Basics
    2. Warnings
    3. Your Safety
    4. Tips

    1. The Basics:

The first thing you want to do when beginning to Ski, is to fine Boots, Skis, and Poles that fit according to your body.

Your Boots should be snug, and be tight enough where they will not fall off your feet. Having loose boots can greatly effect your performace when skiing, and can lead to falling.

The lenght of your Skis, should be according to your skill level. The shorter the ski the easier it is to control them. If you are a beginner then I would suggest starting with short skis.

When skiing most people use poles. Poles should not be used when going down hill, they are specifically for moving on flat land, or getting out of deep snow.

When learning how to ski you want to start by learning how to stop. Stopping can be a big challenge at first, but with time and practice it should become easier.

To stop or slow down you should gently sway back and forth while applying weight to one side of your body. This is done by switching the amount of weight you apply to each foot.

    2. Warnings:

When skiing always try to stay in control. Do not race with other people as you are learning. Also, try to mantain a speed that you and the people skiing next to you are comfortable with.

Always know your abilities. Know how good your skiing skills are, and do not put them to the test. Only to Jumps or moguls if you are postive you can complete them.

Always be aware of obstacles, and other skiers. Pay attention and try to keep a good distance between you and them.

When skiing you will see every hill is giving a color. This is the difficulty of the hill, the colors Include Red, Blue, Green , and Black (Also know as Black Diamonds, and double black diamonds)

Black Diamonds and Double Black Diamonds are for experts only, I would only suggest doing them if you are an experienced skier.

    3. Your Safety:

When skiing your safety, and other skiers safety should be the most important thing. Wear a helment and goggles to protect yourself.

Always realize you are ''Snow'' Skiing, this of course means that it is going to be cold. Wear clothes that will keep you warm, and prepare for the weather.

While Skiing, don't ever go off trail. Skill your limits, and if your tired take a break.

To get to the top of the hill skiers use Ski Lifts. They will transport you from the bottom of the hill to the top in less than a minute(depending on the length of the hill). When using Ski Lifts be careful, they can be dangerous. Be Prepare to get off the lift. Just push with your hands, and be ready.

    4. Tips:

Skiing is tiring, it takes a lot of energy. Make sure you are always hydrated and you have enough energy.

Stopping/Slow down is the hardest thing to learn when learning how to ski. Just remember never gain to much speed.

Good Balance is necessary for skiing. If you can't keep your balance on skis then I would suggest taking a lesson from an Experienced Skier. The ski instructor, can help you with stance, therefore improving your balance.

To prevent from getting lost or hurt always ski with a partner. Stay together and I would suggest bringing a walkie talkie or a phone in case of an emergency.

I hope you enjoyed my guide, I put a lot of time and effort into it. Some of you may be asking "Are you Crazy, It's the middle of summer!"
Of course I realize this, but I hope you still read over my guide, and the next time you ski you fine it useful.

Rate me guide ?/10. Tell me what I need to improve on, and give me some advice.

This is just the basics, there is a lot more to skiing then just this!

    Have Fun!
