Post Quality

I've been browsing a few of the recent topics that have sparked discussion in the Something For All forum, and I've found a lot of posts that have no quality and do not add anything to the overall discussion of the thread. This needs to change guys, so recently I've given out a few warnings (not infractions) to posts that I have seen that are very poor quality.

Something For All is meant to be an intelligent discussion forum where people can argue their opinions on any topic. This forum has high demands in terms of quality of posts and threads, and I feel that the quality has been slipping. I'd like to see a Something For All that is not filled with posts that do not add a good point to the overall discussion.

Some examples of poor posts would be:

"I totally agree with ****"

or

"Your wrong, *** did ***" (The problem with this post lies in that there is no support to backup the statement being made).

If you've got any questions regarding the quality of posting I will leave this topic open so you can ask them.

 

W00t first post on a sticky! So are you really going to clean up this forum, or is this going to continue? Shred said basically the same thing and the unintelligence still remains...

 

I'll do what I can when the site isn't blocked at school which is unfornatually often, but in the summer I'm going to do as much as I can.

 

hm... yeah ive noticed this alot too, i guess people just need to smarten up lol

 

It's not so much that people need to "smarten up" because we all know people are always going to be stupid, we just have to keep those people out so the rest of us can have a mature discussion. What I see Shawn is getting at is maybe if we give them a warning (as it isn't against the rules enough to get an infraction) they will get the picture and leave us to have our ramblings.

Seriously, how many people in the Graphics section do you see making horrible signatures with MS Paint? They don't have our problem.

 

This was a good idea. I hate seeing threads saying somthing really intellegent, and then some guy walks in and says yeah i agree with u.

 

I've been allowed to give an infraction after multiple warnings.

Well, some people ARE total jerks. Might be hard for them. lol. i agree shawn_, but a funny post or two must be tolerated sometimes. I mean, Sythe once said, "im ejaculating over a photo of your dad in a bikini", and Jansen "my ass is tingling". Sometimes it IS funny, so it adds some "spice", but totally useless posts like, "i dunno" "maybe" "omgz omgz thats so funny n00bz" SHOULD be stopped, so i agree.

 

I'm not going to jump all over you for a sarcastic comment that lightens the mood, but It's the posts that add nothing that annoy me.

One funny post is nothing, but when 70% of them are pointless, that's when the line is drawn.

Well, he's a good mod, has good ideas for the forum, and can contribute positively to discussions.

What is your guys deal against shawn ? he isfixing up these forums gradually it just doesn't help that every day we get 20 new noobs who think they are smart but don't know shit or who just post to get their post count up...

Fo Shizzle - Shawn got mod for a damn good reason... Even i didnt like it but i have since seen he deserves it... If you have issues with the mods take it up with them personally or the admins... Just be prepared to get abused because we do our jobs the best we can.

Also i will be trying to help shawn out with cleaning up these forums by sendig pms of posts that are horrible and i may give warnings/infractions here myself...

Nope by your grammar and spelling... Or rather lack thereof it is quite clear to us all that you are infact just as unintelligent as you have been the whole time .

I'm sick of leechers just posting 'I agree' in threads to get their post counts up.
