    Build me a desktop PC.

Build me a desktop PC at a website like www.newegg.com or something. Try not to make it over 4000$.

If you have mis-understood : I'm asking you to make a list of parts and components for my new computer NOT actually build me a computer  .

Make sure all the parts are up to date and from a 'GOOD' company.

    Thanks =].

dude, you would be a complete tool to spend anywhere near 4 grand.

Why does everyone waste there time buying ever single part instead of just buying a computer allready put together with the most up to date hardware? Its cheaper this way too.

A few months ago I bought a top of the line computer, with the best brands for just $1420 (AU)

    I have:
    gigabyte geforce 9800gtx
    4 gig ram
    core 2 quad processor
    gigabyte Q9300 motherboard
    750gb HDD
    soprano case

Edit: In my two seconds of looking I found the best computer you can probably get right now, for $2,136
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Quad-Core-Q9...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:1|39:1|240:1308

You can probably even find better deals then this, Just showing you dont need to spend huge amounts of money on a computer.

do not get the alienware, they are ridiculously overpriced.

so you got 4 grand.. build your own computer.

    QX9650
    2x GTX 280
    790i MoBo
    Corsair 4GB ddr2 800mhz
    Corsair HX 1200W
    CoolerMasters Cosmos case
Get some h20 cooling as well.

seems solid, but the cosmos is already advanced in its air cooling technology, water isnt necessary. Also try going for ddr3 ram if its compatible with the 790i, if not get another mobo that is. ddr3 is the newest technology, and regardless of its price its going to last you.

    What? This is wrong.

After I learned (helped by some people including Vision Ex, Jansen, and Unknown) it was quite easy to put a top of the line computer for thousands USD less than prebuilt computer.

If you want to build one, use a Radeon HD 4870x2 or GTX 280 SLI + a Quad Core Intel CPU + 4gb of DDR3 RAM

mm good advice.. I guess if you get the cosmos case you should get one of those Zalman HS fans for your CPU and a aftermarket cooler for video card.

    What are you smoking?

I dunno about you but in America you can build a computer yourself with the parts you want. There's two perks:

    1) Entirely customized to your liking
    2) Cheaper, around 30% even

As for OP, be more specific. What are you going to use the computer for? Do you have any preferences? etc.

I'd use the computer for a variety of reasons. The main reason I use my computer now is just to play some games (Such as WoW etc.) and the rest is the usual, msn, browsing websites etc.

But what I need this new computer for is to run WoW like a dream with the best graphics in the market, I'm also going to start to learn some programming and going to use photoshop a lot, also I'd use the computer to make videos (with adobe premiere effects or after effects etc) so I'd just like the computer to run really fast for everything and be capable to store a lot of data.

My OS of choice would be Windows Vista Ultimate (Not sure if I should use 64-bit or 32-bit).
