Theroy proving global warming WRONG

i just made a theroy up to prove global warming wrong.




Theroy:

Water displacement-

sciencentist say that global warming is caused by green house gasses that will heat the earth tempretures melting most/all of glaciers in the world.

i say BULLSHIT

why?

water displacement!

proof: fill a cup of water up with water and throw a ice cube in it watch as the water line will stay the same (this is a senario of glaciers and sea)

what do you guys think?

thats becuse the ice cube has less denisty then water so waterdisplacement does not solve anything there. Now melt the ice cube and what happens u dip? Get smart humm?

 

put more then one cube in there then the water line will rise.....

Well, to put it in your terms, in the real word their would be more then one ice cube in the cup, so the water would rise, and global warming is true.

Anyways, lets just wait until a person with higher intelligence then me comes and tries to prove you wrong.

you're putting ONE ice cube into the cup of water, which is like putting a not that big of a glacier into a few mile deep lake. That isn't going to make the water rise much.

but as if you put a bunch of the glaciers in, as if you put a bunch of ice cubes into the cup, water level will rise

When was the last time you saw aliens from mars dumping ice in our oceans.

Theory and Proving can't be used in the same sentence.

Either way, you may be correct, who knows. You gotta remember, this is the earth, we are in Gravity, we have laws of physics, etc. Most of the laws do not apply when your 4+ miles up in the sky.

 

You need to fill the cup higher than the brim of the cup, because the glaciers come over water level lol.

That is the stupidist thing i have ever heard... no offence but i really had to say that. If you use your common sense you'll understand why.

That has very little to do with Global Warming, thats just about water levels. Global warming does not only increase the sea levels but it also causes drought, tropical storms, floods etc. Global warming is the rise in temperature, not in water levels. Increased water levels is a resualt of global warming. So even if that theory was correct, you aren't proving global warming to be wrong, just merely proving ONE of its effects to be wrong.

 

First, what you're trying to call bullshit is the fact that melting the world's ice will raise sea levels, not that it will melt ice.

Second, this example uses a false analogy. The Earth's ice supply is NOT analogous to the hypothetical glass's ice supply. On Earth, ice can be found on land, where it displaces no water. Once it melts, it then flows into the oceans, where it displaces some sea water, thus raising the sea levels.

 

Global warming is probably real, but not to the extent that the world is bringing it to.

As many others in this thread have said, your experiment fails. For starters, even within the scope of your experiment, your predicted result is incorrect. If you fill a cup with water and throw in an ice cube, the water level will rise (as it would if ANY object was thrown in).

Your experiment would work if the cup was filled with the ice already in it, and you somehow kept the ice cube completely submerged. Then, as the ice cube melted, the water level would actually lower. However, the glaciers are not completely submerged. Only what is actually in the water affects the water level. As the glaciers melt, more water would be added into the ocean.

 

more heat = less ice and more water released into the water system
more water in the system means more water in the sea, and a rise in sea level

For simple experiment fill a litre jug with 3/4 litres of water and enough ice to bring the water level to the lip of the jug, then watch the ice melt and see what happens to the excess.

For a fuller understanding of eco-systems please try and understand that there is more to how the earth works than just the ice caps, and then try to envision the problem as involving a multitude of complex interactions of systems so diverse and intertwined that even if we were to combine all the existing computer power into running one program we would not have the ability to correctly model and see how it all works (assuming we could even design such a model).

a little home experiment is going to prove nothing. Watch "Jesus Camp", see the kid who disproves global warming by last years summer not being all that warm. Realise that that is you and that your inspired brilliance in the face of scientific knowledge might actually just be youthful ignorance which, if applied on mass to the whole of the world, could easily send us all to an environmental hell.

 

What shredder said. Not all the glaciers are completely in water. And this doesn't disprove global warming, since the ice is still melting in your theory.

 

bah i dont believe in global warming, its cold as hell here and it usually isnt, although you did not prove it doesnt exist. You think the thousands of scientists studying global warming would miss something as small as this, trust me they know way more.
