    Secondary computer for OSRS

Any ideas? Looking to run more OSRS clients since I have a skilling service but budget isn't infinite, I guess looking at i5s and such is off the grid and since AMD single core performance is rather poor that's also off the grid.

Was looking at those core2quads q660, q9*** and such, anyone have any of these? are they worth it?

If I was in your boat, I'd take a look at old server chips. Something like the Xeon X5650 is a 6 core with hypterthreading, and can be overclocked. Those can be bought for about $70 on ebay.

Aren't AMD's somewhat bad at single core performance? OSRS only runs on single core so that's why I'm worried, plus not sure if they're very power hungry

Xeon X5650 isn't an AMD chip, and it isn't a single core.

To answer your question; don't purchase an AMD processor for this.

Yeah I know it isn't a single core but OSRS runs on single cores (if u have 10000 cores it'll only run on one) so that's why I'm avoiding amd

If you need to run multiple osrs clients, i5 is the best option, as i5 is equally good as i7, only advantage i7 holds over i5 is smooth video editing and Photoshop.

PS: Don't buy cheap processor, save a bit more and get i5, that will profit you in a long run.

Get i5. It's the processor I use and runs so smoothly.

Since ur looking for strong single core performance I'd recommend a skylake i3 6100 which can be overclocked to about 4.4-4.5Ghz. You'd need a Z170 mobo to base clock oc it but its not to difficult. Intel sent out a micro update that prevents this way of overclocking but if you download the previous version of the mobo software u can flash it and essentially get the older version where u can base clock the cpu. You would also need a dedicated graphics card since overclocking would disable the iGpu. If you don't overclock the i3, its still a solid cpu that runs at 3.7Ghz.
