I has a sad - scammed 2b by Giddy imposter

Just got scammed out of 2b.

Not going to bother with evidence because the method they used doesn't give me their real Sythe names so theres no one to ban. I'll just explain how the scam worked and give a suggestion to prevent it in the future.

A guy added me on MSN wanting to buy over 2b @ $0.95/m. He took a while getting an OMM into the chat. The OMM that came in was a Giddy imposter.

The imposters MSN was [email protected] (instead of [email protected]).

He asked for our Sythe names and said he'd send us a PM. A minute later I got a PM from the real Giddy here saying his MSN address. At this point I fully believed that the merson in MSN was the real Giddy and I made the trade (it was over 2b).

    Then both people disappeared.

    My suggestion:

When OMM's send a PM confirmation they should include:
"This is to confirm that I am talking to you on MSN right now"
    or
"I am NOT currently talking to you on MSN".

If the message said he wasn't talking to me I would have known. Not passing the blame on or anything - this is 100% my fualt for not checking the address properly - it's just a suggestion to minimize scams of this kind.

Wrong section, this is not a correct scam report and should instead belong in the suggestions forum.

And it has been a scam circulating around for the last few weeks. You need to make sure the OMM is not an impostor by checking their msn closely and asking for a PM stating their msn and that they are talking to your right now. It's the only way to ensure you're using the right person.
