    Expieremental Surgery

    Hey,

My mothers boyfriend of like 7 years, been living with us for about 5 is going in to have an expieremental surgery done in the end of August.

This surgery has never been attempted, and it is to remove his intestinal cancer.

A couple months ago, he was given a year to live, this has escalated into him not making it through the end of the summer, without this surgery.

The basis of this is them physically going in, cutting his insestines opened, and scraping out the cancer cells, it's a 24 hour surgery, and very risky. There is a high chance that he will be a vegetable for the remainder of his life, assuming he lives through it.

What are your opinions on expieremental surgerys? Do you believe they can be morally wrong if the risk is too high?

Could you perform one knowing the patient could die?

I think its worth a try. You should never give up if there is even a chance, even if it is 1 in a billion there is still a chance.

They are going to die sooner then they would in the long run, this could be a success if they actually find out that they can perform this type of surgery and have it go according as planned.

This could be a great medical discovery.

I don't see how it could be considered
if he was the one that chose the surgery. I think it's worth a shot. If he has til the end of summer without it, why not try it? Maybe he could help someone later on.

well if one was told they were going to die, why wouldnt tthey take a chance like that. I respect him for taking the risk and giving himself a chance to survive. good luck =p

Would you rather die, or take a chance of survival that is very low?
