    Fighting depression

So a few years back now, I became extremely depressed. I was suicidal, very anxious, the whole works. After a long fight with this depression and a fair few seemingly useless drugs, the thing that actually helped me was leaving the person I was with. I was free and happy and no longer forced to be someone that I wasn't. My question is, have you ever been depressed, and what helped you to recover?

Yes,I have been depressed multiple times in my life, I would recommend finding things that make you happy there is always that something that makes you happy. Find it and hold onto it. If you ever need to talk feel free to add my skype.

Yeah finding what makes you happy is not always as easy as it sounds though, what defines happiness? But anyway, I'm not depressed anymore! I just want to hear how other people have dealt with it, simply out of curiosity.

I have suffered quite severely with depression, and still do to a degree, although clinical depression is very hard to get rid of. I'm still on a lot of medication for various things and I haven't managed to shake it for about 6 years now.

I can make myself feel happy by surrounding myself with friends and doing things I enjoy, but it only makes the lows more severe as the difference between the lows and highs is then greater. It can be a hard thing to get over depending on how severe your depression is.

For me, so far, no I haven't yet 'recovered'.

I've been depressed for many reasons in the past few years and I think "recovered" is of an odd word choice to use. I've never really gotten over depression, the reason has just merely changed as time has progressed. What seems to put me away from my thoughts is to be busy with friends, doing things that I like (i.e. running, drawing, merking kids at BF3). I'd say to just find some replacements of what you've lost and that is causing your depression.

When I used to be 360 pounds I think I was depressed, can't really remember as it was a year and a half ago lol. I just remember getting made fun of, a lot. I first got through it by playing call of duty with friends and I was really good at the game so it made me happy. But then I started lifting weights, and I gave up games, and that helps me more and more. Down to 250ish now and about to go in the Army.

Yes I have been depressed before. The things that helped me the most were my friends. Specifically my best friend at the time, I was able to talk to him about pretty much anything and he kept me from doing stupid shit.

    Fighting depression

I've been depressed at one time. It felt like my life was falling apart one piece at a time and I couldn't do anything but watch it happen right in front of me. My grades were plummeting, my girlfriend leaves me, my so-called friends don't want to talk to me anymore. I've even contemplated suicide at one point. But the thing is, I realized that life goes on. I found new friends, got help and support from family members and managed to turn my life around. Friends are fickle, but family is forever.
