Allow people to post in the scammers section to argue against a scam report filed against them, but make a rule that only the person bieng accused of bieng a scammer can post and no one else.

    No, bad idea.

It's the mod's responsibility to look over the scammer reports, not the members. The moderators will decide if it is enough proof or not. If you are banned then you can make a dispute in the dispute forum.

What if a MM was involved in the trade and also saw the scam?

It would be nice to get all sides of the story.

When one person is accusing another of scamming, it's a good idea to build a ten foot wall between them. Opening private threads where they can confront each other openly would be an invitation for drama. As evidence for this, just watch one of the scam accusation threads posted in a public forum. Even ignoring everyone else, the actual proof is buried in back-and-forth flaming and spam.

In almost all cases where a report is submitted with proof, the user accused is a scammer. Misunderstandings can be sorted out via PM or MSN, and if that fails, the dispute forum exists in case there's another side of the story that wasn't represented in the original report.

Bad Idea, it will only lead to flaming and mass spam about who's right and who's wrong.
