saving .gif animation files

Ok, this could be something simple but here is my problemo. when I go to save a .gif file because my logo has animation in it. it puts this big ugly white ring type things around it like an outline almost. but it looks very retarded. i looked it up on youtube and they just say to make in so hither or something like that when you go to save it... but when i do that it still has it any tips?
