basically US Senate passed Bill Summary & Status, 112th Congress (2011 -- 2012) | S.1867 | Latest Title: National Defense Authorization Act for.

This bill, passed late last night in a 93-7 vote, declares the entire USA to be a "battleground" upon which U.S. military forces can operate with impunity, overriding Posse Comitatus and granting the military the unchecked power to arrest, detain, interrogate and even assassinate U.S. citizens with impunity.

    discuss?

It has happened all before, President Lincoln did it during the Civil War and he also suspended Haibius Corpus.

I still don't believe it is right at all weather it has happened before or not.

Do you think it isn't a big deal and people are overreacting?

    Military granted impurity???

I think the people are looking for an excuse to fight. Granted the country is not in the best state it has ever been, but people are getting pissed, and there is really no way to direct that anger. The act has not even been officially passed yet, and these videos are just fuel for a potential match that could be struck.

You misquoted that, it is: "Don't forget the past, so you are not doomed to relive it."

I understand people are pissed and all that. I'm not happy with how everything is going either. I do think people need to stand up for things like these BEFORE it is a law. Why wait to complain when they can just detain you?

Know your rights as an American citizen. These have more power than any bill that could ever be passed. These rights can never be tampered with or infringed upon! http://www.ratical.com/co-globalize/BillOfRights.html

I know my rights... This bill becoming law would take away those rights. Thats why I hate it. Am I missing something here?

    Military granted impurity???

You read it incorrectly. U.S Military has the authority to detain / interogate indivduals without U.S citizenship suspected to be a threat to the states without a court order. John McCain attempted to pass the same bill weeks ago with the exception that the U.S Military can arrest any individual on U.S soil, regardless of citizenship which was declined with a vote of 63 - 23? (forgot exact number)

Ok well from what I understand is that you can be held for any reason for any amount of time without trial or anything. I agree with it might be meant to protect citizens, but I disagree with holding anyone for any reason. That is stupid. I like the idea of stopping terrorism by detaining them, but i still don't think no trial is ok. Everyone is entitled.

    Military granted impurity???

The way that this bill is cleverly worded DOES include American Citizens on US soil, i had a 2 hour conversation with my Political Science Professor, and CIA's ex head of Anti-Terrorism Christopher Whitcomb. Both of them agree that even though it is stated it doesnt apply directly to Americans, it contradicts itself to indirectly include American's later in the article. There should be no mistaking that this does include us. Not only that, it gives the government the right to revoke our citizenship at their discretion, so if they want it to apply to you badly enough, and avoid the politcal shitstorm, they can revoke your citizenship and label you a terrorist.

This is exactly why I have such a huge problem with this bill!! Thank you so much for saying this!!

I don't get how people just don't care? Does everyone think since they are American and have the bill of rights and constitution that they can't be touched? Wrong, this bill directly conflicts with that and it still passed with overwhelming majority. They don't care. If they want to then they will come after you just because they want to.

    Military granted impurity???

Back when it was literally impossible to have soldiers get anywhere fast enough to do anything.

Nowadays, if the orders are given, there could be 100k troops in Chicago tomorrow killing everyone in the city. That's why it's so serious.
