I was purchasing an RSN
Theolivetian stated he'll sell me the rsn "Insane"

Him stating so


Notice where he specifically stated "Insane"
We agreed that he would transfer the rsn and if it gets sniped the deal is off.


Fast forward yesterday when I was going to sell the rsn to a buddy for me to find out he transferred the name "Lnsane" instead of "Insane" which look identical ingame.

When I contacted on skype he's trying to justify he never scammed because "he never stated it was an I" even though he advertised the name as "Insane"

I haven't charge backed on paypal (yet).
Waiting for a mod (Preferably dunworry since he deals with rsns) to tell me specifically what to do/ get involved if the rsn needs to be changed back to him.

As for Proof that I've been given the anme "Lsane" instead of "Insane",
The account he transferred my name on is a zerker
And if you check the highscores, "Insane" is linked to a lvl 20, and "Lnsane" is linked to my account.

On skype, if you type Insane, with an L in lowercase, it appears as the screenshot. So, technically, he hasn't done anything wrong.

 

If you're going to advertise selling a "rare rsn" and swap out the I with an L without ever mentioning it is a scam.

Edit;

Both usernames Lnsane and Insane are *identical* ingame.
The fact that he never even mentioned it in a 30 minute discussion proves it.

So if I advertise to sell the rsn "Iron" and spell it lron (exactly how it looks ingame) It's completely fine in your words.

He advertised the rsn as "lnsane" without ever mentioning that the I that looks completely like an L ingame, is an L.

Again, using the same statement as before, this means it's completely valid to sell rsns like lron, lce, ln, ls, lf, as long as i never state it's an I. (Not to mention, that the only way to see the difference ingame is to look on highscores, which makes it even easier to scam.)

Seems pretty bullshit to me.

So, I tested on skype, there's a difference in length between a lowercase 'L' and an uppercase I.

Based of the skype screenshot, he actually typed 'lnsane' (Lsane) with a lowercase 'L'. Based of that, he hasn't done anything specifically wrong - unless he posted it with an I elsewhere, prior to your conversation, and then changed it to an L after terms were agreed.

also because i forgot in the original post, I don't care if the guy's banned. I want him to pay for 2 bonds, take back his rsn and refund me my money.

 

There's still a diff between the two. I'll ask other staff to post, and see what the verdict is.

 

Argument isn't if there's a difference or not.
Argument is why it isn't classified as a lie/scam simply because it was never mentioned.

You can barely see the difference with X4 Zoom, let alone original image, and now apart from all the rsn snipers/scammers I have to worry people are swapping letters to make it look like it's the rsn displayed.
Also not to mention i paid around market price for the legitimate rsn "Insane" (asked dunworry for it's market price) only to find out I've been scammed due to a person using a keyboard character that is literally 2 pixels shorter than the legitimate rsn.

Yes, but you realise there are 2 sides to this. Just because you think it's meant to be Insane, doesn't mean the seller means it so. It's lack of vigilance on your part. However, I do understand, and it is a pretty odd situation.

 

That's what I and l looks like on my Skype. I've never changed the font and that was always my default. But it appears the default is different for each user (Sellerman shares the same font as you).

Your skype text didn't notice the difference, you never tried adding it to confirm he was in possession of it, it seems like you took no precautions whatsoever. Has he told you it's with an I anywhere on Sythe? PM or post maybe?

 

From the report at current, if TheOlivetian stated the name was 'lnsane' (Lnsane), and did not state it was 'Insane' with an 'I', then, from what you've shown us, he isn't at fault here.

 

I'm not active in the RSN market, just bought one for personal use and was going to sell to an irl friend.

I don't agree that the "seller didn't mean so".
If you're going to sell an rsn with an l and not an I, you advise the buyer. Not never mention it whilst they're practically identical ingame and there's only 2 pixels difference in vertical length.

Again, a ban isn't my aim for this report.
Make him pay 2 bonds and transfer the rsn back to his account.
Then he can sell Lnsane to the next unsuspecting victim.

Pm also shows that he intentionally knew I was assuming the rsn was "Insane" with an "i" yet still never mentioned an L.

And before you state that he never spelt it with an I in the chat, he intentionally knew there was barely a difference in the chat. And the fact that he also saw my confirmation pm and saw specifically I thought it was "I" yet never mumbled one thing about an ""L".

He can pay for the bonds and transfer his rsn back to him and refund me on pp.

Don't care for bans etc.
