Runescape was better without the Grand exchange

I feel that the game was way more lively before the grand exchange, you had to interact with different players to get everything you were looking for. This made the game slow and feel more exiting. Varrock bank trading was the foundation for edgeville pking, because right after GE was released it slowly died. Also trading spread to falador, Camelot and so many areas in the game, and this created different niches for people to do. Any thoughts?

 

There was more interaction for sure, but it also was a pain to obtain items. I remember wanting to do certain quests and was busy for like 1-2 hours gathering all the necessary items before able to quest. That was a huge waste of time and kind of ruined the game experience for me.

 

There were multiple sellers selling quest packs on the forum tough, so you didnt need to buy every single piece alone if you didnt want to.


I personally agree that RS was indeed better back in the day without ge. I dont know if its because they added ge, it went to that way it is now, but it felt a complete different game back in that day tbh.

 

I was just thinking about this the other day as well. Sometimes I miss all that chit chat!
I would fish lobsters in Karamja all day and the best part was using cool chat effects and trying to sell them for a fair price in edgeville, varrock..

 

That's why I like group ironman, basically playing the game as it was intended. However, I wish there was a game mode where you could trade freely with whomever, and not be able to use the GE.

 

I had good memories pre-GE, and also add the fact that I'm pretty sure typing "flash2:wave:selling big bones 300 ea" for half an hour is what got me to type this fast.

But man, now that we're older and with a lot more limited time, lmao nope.

 

I was just thinking about this the other day, how RS taught me to type so fast. How many hours I wasted though trying to sell raw lobbies lmao.

 

Having to locate items was part of the process and prevented the game from being purely "no time for fun, gotta grind."

 

yep. it was heavily beneficial back then. now the only positive I see with removing GE is for the nostalgia factor. besides that, nah.

 

I loved the days when you could go to East Fally and make millions merching Everything was better back then LOL. RIP OSRS wildy

 

osrs is such a great game, there has been many points where i just don't play it for years, then i get back into it (like now) it seems. we have grown together !!

 

OSRS is much more fun to me with the grand exchange. Spamming with an autotyper all day to get quest items is not exactly my type of fun. And scamming was also a big problem.

 

Those were the good old days, most wouldn't understand

Fally was the best remember buying rares in the top corner of the garden lol
