F2P Skillcapes....Your Opinions

After scrolling through the RuneScape forums I stumbledupon a thread in the future updates section regarding f2p skillcape access. The thread demanded nonmembers have full access to nonmember skills.
After scanning through a few pages, I came to the realization that
a) most supporters were f2p with 99 stats(access to the forum : high level)
b) most anti-supporters(soz) were p2p without skillcapes themselves
c) most people who didnt care had a massive amount of skillcapes anyway
The main argument for (A) was that nonmembers put more effort into their stats and should deserve a way to show off their achievements not only by their combat level or pile of cash, but with a fancy cape. Free players also argued p2p'ers have much more content and skillcapes aren't that much of a giveaway.
The main argument from (B) was that f2p'ers didnt pay for the game and shouldn't receive any member content. Others stated that nonmems already got the duel arena, team capes, etc.and wonder if f2p players will ever stopping getting member benefits. Then there were the retarded noobs saying that if skillcapes went f2p most members would quit and go f2p.
Ok, my opinion is simple: if you earned the level, you should have the cape.
Stuff:
For the whining members who complain about f2p members infringing on p2p features etc, grow up. F2P rs2 is the trial versionof runescape(directly from the website) and p2p rs2 is the full version. Have you ever beaten a game on the demo version? I doubt it. An accomplishment on f2p such as a 99 should be rewarded. @noobs complaining about skillcapes being the reason they pay for rs2. First off, that's a lie. They obviously dont have a 99 because if they did they would have got it in f2p; why else pay for something you may get? Last time I checked, skillcapes came out in 2006(?) and rs has been around since 1999. I'm guessing all the members from 99-06 were donating to jägex, bc skillcapes hadn't come out yet. @noobs thinking all mems would quit if skillcapes went f2p: NO. Fools. I know that not every member has a skillcape. And I know that not every member pays just for the skillcape.

Just move the skillcapes tothe lummy guide, done.
Skillcapes have been around for a few years and I think they should be accesssable in f2p worlds. Cmon, skillcapes aren't even that big compared to p2p updates and upgrades. Make the f2p hardcores happy and give in.

i think it's a good idea because i have friends that play in f2p and i like to show off my capes
but i cant change them while in f2p
and if i cant get members for a week then im stuck looking in one outfit

Although I believe that it should happen, it probably won't.

Skill capes are a big reason people buy membership.

I think that it should be members only still for 1 reason...FREE NOOBS DON'T DESERVE THE THINGS MEMBERS PAY FOR!!! It's annoying, if they can't pay for membership , they don't deserve some of the members items that they actually pay for.

 

p2p players PAY, meaning their judgment/opinion has much greater weight than f2p (whose opinion has virtually no value to Jagex). So at the end of the day, what p2p players want is what's going to happen (most of the time).

 

I totally Disagree with this. You pay for what you get. Why should Free To Play People get member Benefits, When they pay Jack shit. And then you will have these 10 year olds running around with capes. If you want a Cape, Simply pay the money. You know it's worth it.

 

how big of a benefit is having a skillcape for members? P2P has so much more than nonmembers because they actually pay up and give jägex money. But getting a 99 in f2p is twice the accomplishment as getting a 99 in p2p. Skillcapes should have always been f2p, because f2p earns it more than p2p. Seriously, p2p has much more than f2p. Plus, what effect does giving f2p skillcapes out have on you as a player? Would you quit rs p2p and go f2p. No.
A good compromise i saw on the forums was to give bonus items to p2p along with the skillcape. Say woodcutting for example. F2p would get cape and hood. P2p would get cape, hood, and a powerful hatchet to boost their wc skill.



Jägex gets alot of money through adverts in f2p...Plus not everybody has the means to get p2p. I can afford mems by I have no way of buying.

 

i think f2p should get capes, im p2p, but f2p have to work so much harder for the capes than we do, so they deserve to show their achievement

 

jagex won't do it, thats not to say i'm against it but the majority of ftp'ers will buy members when there in the 90's of a skill just for the cape.

 

Everyone who thinks they shouldnt are really arguing over nothing. It wont in anyway effect the econmy or other players. I voted Yes.

I read everything you wrote, and I can't say anything else than that I agree with you 100%. Free users have worked harder for their 99's and showing off your skillcapes in free worlds is hard, you have to re log for every change.

 

Um, I dont think that "unpimping" a skillcape would be the best route. Plus some members prefer untrimmed skillcapes as opposed to trimmed skillcapes. Allowing the access to regular skillcapes is simple enough. I dislike the idea, even though you support f2p skillcapes, that f2p players always have to have the watered down version of p2p items. But then again, I can see where you are coming from. Still, a dulled down version would probaly be insulting to nonmems.
