got phished I know.. I know.. I deserve it, but read well.

Figured out I got phished. Put my pin and all. I changed everything. Everything you can think of. Even put a 2 step on all my emails.

Before you judge me, I am totally new to the gaming world and yes, I accept my defeat. I caved in and thought this dude was really giving shit out. It was the youtube scam yes.. Lo behold, I felt really dumb after entering my info 3 times wondering wtf was going on with the RS website (your queue to laugh). Now, all the "I deserve it" stuff is out of the way.. am I safe?

I have too much anxiety to think that I should continue this account.. Should I start over. almost all my stats (im a member) are at least 40 lvls and it was a long grind.

Yes, i still have my account. No I didn't get DDossed or got fishy emails. Confused on what happened.

Confused because most stories of people getting phished are "i got ddsossed and logged back in. everything was gone".

bet you gave them a boner until they logged in to see some lvl 40 with some trout

 

1) Change all email and corresponding / linked accounts PWs and double check the recovery emails LINKED to your RS account recovery email (if that makes sense)
2) Change RS PW
3) Should be good to go

Of course, this is assuming it was just a simple phish. Definitely want to be sure you didn't get keylogged as well.

I think a lot of people, including myself, have been phished. My best advice is to make what happened a learning moment. Learn from it, move on, and keep the grind going

 

Don't worry my man, It happens to the best of us. Now you know what to look out for. My advice for you is to not be so gullible inside of Runescape. Don't look for free stuff and stay away from anyone telling you to go to a link outside of the game. There are plenty of scammers on that game and people who would take the chance, if given the opportunity. Question everyone and everything if its too good to be true.

 

Agreed. I go one step further and don't take free stuff. If someone really wants to give something away, great, someone else can have it.

 

get an antivirus if u downloaded an exe file otherwise should be safe
