    NFL Off-Season Discussion Thread

So far in the Off-Season things have been mixed up considerably. The draft is coming up in less than a months time now also.

What has happened to your team?

The Patriots have retained their defensive players but seem to be changing up the offense. Wes Welker has left to go to the Broncos. =@ It's not really surprising considering they were trying to phase him out as they have two tight ends to patrol the middle of the field but had to set aside this plan as Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski got injured. Still, one of the old patriots has left, which saddens me. They have supposedly upgraded with Danny Amendola according to several analysts but I am not convinced. I'm not sure why Brandon Lloyd was let go also, he was just starting to build chemistry with Tom Brady but he's gone now too. We picked up Donald Jones and some Michael Jenkins (both alright receivers, nothing special though) to build depth which is alright I guess. Danny Woodhead was also let go in favor of Leon Washington but rumor is, he will exclusively return kicks instead. This will be good however as the Patriots have had rubbish kick returners for quite some time.

For all the whacky decisions he makes though, In Belichick We Trust.

Apparently we are also going to be acquiring Emmanuel Sanders from the Steelers and a lot of mock drafts I have seen have been predicting the Patriots to try and get either a speedy WR to provide a deep threat. With recent acquisitions however, I think that they will look to bolster their defense instead with drafting a CB or similar as their secondary isn't that great.

I hope no one picks up Julian Edelman (he is an unrestricted free agent) - Patriots need to resign him. He was looking really great before his injury. When he got the time on the field when he was replacing Welker he stepped up.

My team is the Eagles. They've made a few safe and smart decisions so far thru free agency (Cary Williams, Brandon fletcher, Kenny Phillips, Patrick Chung) all definite Upgrades from last years terrible secondary.

Also, Isaac Sopoaga is a promising nose tackle along with the signing of Connor Barwin at DE/OLB

We've added offensive options as well, recently signed Anteyi Momah who is a 6'7 wide receiver. He was undrafted due to an ACL injury and has no NFL experience, but if healthy he should provide a red zone depth option. Also, former Texan James Casey FB/TE is a very athletic player.

With the 4th overall pick, we've worked out many top draft prospects, including EJ Manuel and Geno Smith. I would prefer if we didn't waste the pick on a QB, Vick proved to be elite in 2010 when he has a healthy O line. You can look at highlights.

That being said, I hope to draft Luke Jockel or Eric fisher. Wouldn't mind defensive help though (Dee Millner CB, Dion Jordan DE/LB)

As a 2nd or 3rd round pick I would love to snag Margus Hunt, a 6'8 DE/LB that runs a 4.6 40 yard dash, also benched 225 38 times which was the max at the combine. He is an absolute monster and expected to be available in one of these rounds.

Considering Jason peters, Todd herremans and Jason Kelce are all healthy now, only one O lineman is needed

    Major needs in draft:
    OL/OT
    DE/DT

    Free agency grade: B

I love what Chip Kelly is doing so far. He has what he needs to run his mobile offense.

So glad the lions scooped up Bush, Quin, and Jason jones. Definitely needed upgrades there.

However, it's a bit disappointing to see Stephan peterman and Justin Durant leave. 2 solid players that'll definitely hit the lions hard. Also the loss of Hanson doesn't help the team much more, but it was only a matter of time before the 21 year vet leaves the league. Not even upset that cliff avril was sent(well he left) to the seahawks, the amount of work he put in and the cash wanted just didn't go together. Was really hoping they'd get DHB but oh well, just gotta get a wr from the draft I guess.

Lions need a star lineman (Eric fisher), a star LB to take durant's place, a decent CB to play along Houston and need our current wr core to become healthy to play alongside of megatron.

Let's hope Mayhew can do some magic and improve the team lol
