It manages to be more British than the actual British adaptation, and it's worlds better than the BBC's new "Sherlock". One of my Russian friends showed me it, and it's great! There is so much attention to detail given to the setting, costumes, characters, and it's so faithful to the original books that it's hard to believe it wasn't filmed in London. It is regarded as one of the great works of Soviet-era television, and the actor who played Holmes was given an honorary membership in the Order of the British Empire for his exemplary performance.

Give it a watch, I think you'll enjoy it.
