You're going to have issues between your cpu and your ram. I would highly suggest you consider getting an AMD if you want 8g ram.

Everything seems to be in order. I disagree with 1ce, Intel's work fine with 8gb. Just make sure you include an 64 bit OS in your costs.

Then you stack bit decay with driver corruption. It will work, but not nearly as well as an amd will.

It'll work with your cpu just fine, but you'll experience live bit decay with your ram. More of a windows issue than anything else, if you're using mac/linux/unix it won't be so much of a problem. But for gaming you may find things get.. glitchy.

Just buy an AMD proc much cheaper, buy a cheap cooler and OC it - that's what I did. from 4x 3,7 to 4x 4,1 with a cheap cooler and it's running stable.

Make sure you buy a version that has an unlocked multiplier.

2500k beats all the current AMD processors, and can OC to atleast 4GHz on air.. I've seen people have it at 4.5GHz on air. :s

Yes but AMD handling capabilities gives it a distinct advantage. -.- Clockspeed is nice. But it's not everything. Gawd I hate hardware politics, I shoulda just avoided this thread =.=

You're all missing the fact that the PC he picked out will work fine. Unless he's benchmarking against other machines or trying to get every little inch of power from it, there's barely going to be a noticeable difference.. And you can always upgrade to an i7-2600 if the i5 isn't cutting it, even though it's only slightly better, it's only slightly more expensive.

    2500k- $225
    PII x4 955 -$140.
Double the price? Nope, but it's worth the extra $80.

And yep the build is fine :).
