Alright, hello Sythe, how's it going?
Today I am going to show you the basics of how to merchant successfully on Runescape.​

Before I begin, it is essential to understand that I am not going to be showing you a way to become a Party Hat owner in a matter of minutes. The reason for that is that such an example does not exist. But, what I will be showing is how to make RSGP in a manner that requires very little effort on your part.

This guide will be broken into two parts: short term investing, and long term investing. By the time you finish reading this guide you will know how to find items that are worth investing in, and how to invest properly in order to make as much profit off the item as possible.

NOTE: Some of the videos that I have posted are not made by myself. However, they are property of the Merchanting Clan that I am a part of. At the end of this guide, I will post the links to the website of my clan, a link to the Grand Exchange trading limits, and also a link to the Grand Exchange itself. Short Term Investing

Below I have posted a video that explains perfectly how to invest in the short term. Short term investing is also referred to as flipping. The video will show you exactly how to perform a successful flip. NOTE: The more RSGP that you have, the more profit you will make. If you do not have a lot of RSGP (under 20mil) do not be discouraged. You can still flip successful and receive a decent amount of profit. The more money that you have, the higher the price of the item that you are flipping should be. EXAMPLE: If you have below 20mil rsgp, then try to flip items like food, logs, herbs (members only), flax (members only), etc. If you have more RSGP, try to flip items like Godswords, DragonFire Shields, various armour, and rares. NOTE: I advise against flipping items like Santa Hats and Masks. These items fluctuate in price rapidly, and their fluctuations are rather large. Most of the time investing in such rares takes a long time, and in that time the price has changed, so you may have lost a lot of money. If you are very rich, then I advise flipping Party Hats. Be careful though, because Party Hats are not bought as often. Continually flipping these will cause YOU to crash your own profits. Remember, the less the item is bought, the more of an impact the buyer has on the market value. Enjoy the video!

Long Term Investing

Investing in the long term is where most of the problems occur with people. The most common question is "what do I invest in?" Well I have attached a video explaining how to find items that are worth while investing in the long run. Take note that while short term investing (flipping) is much faster than long term investing, much more profit can be earned in the long run. Once again, the more money that you have, the more profit will be earned. Patience is a virtue when you are investing. Have patience. I also advise people that wish to invest in rares to do so in the long run. A prime example are Santa Hats. Santa Hats are much much MUCH cheaper during the Spring/Early summer months. People with a lot of much should invest in Santa Hats during this time. Then, when November/Early December comes around, they can sell their santa hats for massive profits (sometimes exceeding 30mil per Santa Hat). Such trends and more can be found by simply just browsing through the Grand Exchange website. Take the time to properly go through it. So much vital information can be found on the Grand Exchange website. In fact, I guarantee anyone here that without it, long term investing would be practically obsolete. Enjoy the video!

Final Remarks

Remember; playing with money always has a downside too. Sometimes you don't make any profits, and sometimes you lose money. Heck, I lost over 30mil in one night flipping Santa Hats. It is crucial to not give up, but rather learn from your mistakes, and do better the next time. Also note that the more effort you put into merchanting, the more profits you will earn. Take the time to go through a bunch of items when you flipping to find the item with the biggest margin between the buying and selling price. Also, if you choose to invest in the long term, have common sense, and TAKE THE TIME TO PROPERLY GO THROUGH THE GRAND EXCHANGE! I can't stress it enough. The Grand Exchange is the holy bible to merchanters. Also, if your graphs are telling you that a perfect bottom 1 2 3 formation is formed with Boots. Do not just blindly buy 30k boots. Have some common sense too. If an item is not that popular, then don't go for it. There are literally thousands of items in the Grand Exchange that you can choose from. THOUSANDS! Take your time, have patience, and you will succeed. I guarantee you!

IN CASE ANYONE IS WONDERING!!! If you buy 10 dharok body plates, you have reached the limit that you can buy for that 3 hours. BUT! If you sell your 10 dharok body plates, then you can buy 10 more dharok body plates. THUS! If you can buy 10 plates in 3 minutes, and sell 10 plates in 3 minutes, then you can buy another 10 dharok plates after only 6 minutes. If you only sell 1 dharok plate, then you will only be able to buy 1 dharok plate until your 3 hours limit is up. GOT IT?!?!?!
