Restricted Account Selling

I have been browsing the "Other Accounts" section of the Runescape Market forum, and I am utterly surprised to see how many newcomers (join date April/May 2011) are selling "maxed level 138 main" etc. Now, before you hate, I am in no way suggesting that newcomers are always untrustworthy, nor am I saying that post count affects one's honesty. However, I do not believe that this many new users to Sythe all have that high level Runescape accounts, and (if they do) are actually going to sell them. Now, if a user on Sythe sells an account and recovers it, they will be banned. However, there's nothing to stop them creating a new account to sell/recover another RS character.
So here is the suggestion (if it is even possible):

• 
  Only allow accounts that have been registered on the site for a set amount of time(ex. 3 months) to post in the Account Sales forum.

This would deter scammers from claiming to sell their high level Runescape accounts on Sythe again because they would have to wait so long.

 

I believe theres a section that has all the runescape character names 'Not' to buy. And if there's not then there definently should be one.

No. I do not agree at all. It will not be fair for the people who really want to sell and get rid of the account(s). Also, if a newcomer wants to purchase an account, they do not want to wait 3 months for them to be able to post in the section.

 

No support. I'm not really a fan of putting unnecessary restrictions on newcomers, especially since stuff like that will turn them away from the site.

If you're referring to Sin's sticky, you should know that it's outdated.

 

It is outdated. No support however as this would be unfair to the new members who are legitimately trying to sell accounts. It should be mandated that they use an OMM/Recovery Test to ensure account security.

I.E. I havn't been here for 3 months and so far I have bought/sold, 2 D-scim pures, a level 104/107, and a 123/131. Not all newcomers/newer members are scammers.

 

This isn't too special. All you would have to do is this:

Make account 1 without proxy
forget until 3 months later
while waiting for the 3 months to go by
you make new accounts with proxies, and then you go scam

Then once the 3 months thing is up they can scam again, and if they are really smart they make a bunch of accounts.

 

It's not going to deter any scammers.

Step 1: Make 30 Sythe accounts on shuffling Proxies, write down information.

Step 2: Wait Three months

Step 3: ?????

Step 4: Scam

Not a dumb idea. It was a very good topic to feedback on. I like your reasoning but the method I don't like personally.

 

This will never go through, doesn't matter how long you are with the site; people who have been on the site for years have ended up scamming in the past.

Why?
This wouldn't deter scammers at all simply due to making accounts and having them sit. As well, it could hurt the user-base that use the market.

 

Restricting access to new members would hurt the user base because people wouldn't have the motivation to get 50 posts to post there account.

 

Not going to happen.
