Addition to Graphics Marketplace

A new subsection should be made alongside Free Graphics, called "Request Graphics".

Reason for it's addition? Well, the graphics marketplace is flooded with two kinds of threads, shops and requests. With the addition of this new subsection, it will make it easier for shop owners to find requests from other users, while those who request graphics should have faster responses.

I don't see the reason not to have this done.

 

I support this, I've been looking for someone to do some graphics for me for awhile and haven't gotten any luck. Hopefully this will help people in my situation get along a lot easier

 

I've been thinking recently how the graphics marketplace is dead minus the top 5 shops or so, I didn't think it was flooded at all - but I'm not there often

 

Flooded mostly with shops, but there are a lot of requests, from templates to user images. I think separating the two would be beneficial to both parties.

 

Mind you, I didn't see Free Graphics having an affect at all but it was a good introduction.

I support. I find a problem of not knowing sometimes if people are requesting graphics or opening a shop. So this would be great

 

I don't really see how adding the extra section will do anything more. If anything just suggest the use of tags or something like [SHOP] or [REQ] something like that.

 

You know that people won't use that or eventually stop doing it.

I don't see a reason not to create the sub section.

Yeah I disagree with the tags, agree totally with a subsection, if I was an artist or shop owner I would like much more to be able to see them together. I also do see people make UI requests and sig/avatar all the time.

 

Definitely think this is a good idea. If shop owners want to find customers, they can look in Request subsection, without having to go through pages of other shop owners and vice versa. If the section isn't as active as it could be, change might be the best thing for it.

 

Support. I think it would make the graphics section much neater, or straightforward, which could help activity wise. Also, I can see tons of people not complying with a rule that requires tags which could prove to be a hindrance to staff members. I think adding a subsection would be much easier and more beneficial.

 

I personally think the sub-section should be shops, and the main forum requests. Most the time it's better for the buyer to post what they want and have artists do the work. It just works better like that with graphics. Almost every shop basically does the same shit, however, people can make unique requests.

And if someone doesn't want to make a request they can just go to the shop for someone already offering services.

 

The reason why I suggested requests be moved instead of shops because shops hold more numbers. I think it would make sense to move the smaller number.

 

One thing wrong with the graphics marketplace is that it's created to be a sellers market when it's basically freelance work and the entire market for that is usually based on someone requesting something. Take a look at any popular websites. Someone usually asks for something they need specifically and they get offers or multiple artists attempt to complete the work. This is how I've obtained most the work I needed from the graphics marketplace, and it's how I received the best service and best end product.

Let's take a look at the top 2 threads in the section right now. Works out pretty well for my example since one is for buying, one is for selling.

What does this prove?

• There's obviously more supply than demand
• Even if there's more selling threads, it doesn't mean they're more active
• Most of the people looking for something specific will post a thread

With shops, only a few end up being popular to where people go to them. So of course, it's important for people to be able to establish themselves and make selling threads, however, it would be better if requests was the main section and shops underneath it, in my opinion, if they were to be split up. And if the graphics market is going to remain in the "Graphics" section, I think it would also be beneficial to put free shops in the same section as well. They shouldn't get any less recognition or be treated differently because they're free.

However, with all that being said I don't see a problem with it just staying together anyway.

 

Popularity doesn't define the legitimacy of a graphics shop.

Going back to my first point, it's really about structure. If we take a look at Free graphics, why does it deserve it's own sub section? The forum is called Graphics Marketplace. If you take a look inside, it's highly inactive. So why was it made? To balance the structure of the forum. Request forum is like free graphics, only you're requesting art that will be paid for.

I agree, there will always be more supply than demand because there are a lot of shops out there. This is great, and with request threads you get different kind of art styles in which you find out the style that fits you. Wouldn't it be easier to post in a well reputable shop? Yes, but you're only getting one style for a costly price. This allows other shops to branch out. It's a win/win for everyone.

 

I wouldn't call it "deserving" it's own forum. By being separate, it loses viewership if anything. Honestly maybe it'd be best if there was a "requests" forum whether free or paid, and a market, whether free or paid, if we're going to go that route.
