I thought this belonged here, but if a moderator feels that it fits better in the private server development section, then please feel free to move it.
We all know that Runescape has hit the shitter, and is slowly dying. Back between 2007 - 2009, I was a huge Runescape private server developer. I think I'm going to get back into that, and make a very realistic private server (more than Zarpor was). However, I'm not sure exactly what version I should use, and if I should do MySQL or flat-file.
Obviously since I was a developer back in 2007 - 2009, MySQL servers weren't popular, so I have no knowledge with those. I can do anything with a flat-file server though, so that may be easier. I'll probably go with a flat-file server, and later convert it to MySQL as I gain more knowledge on it.
However, I'm still stuck on what time was the best graphic/feature-wise for Runescape.
Should I do a 317, 508, or what? What do you think would be most popular?
I'm also looking for help on ideas for this.
