How does an oldschool player get back into rs3?

I am looking for a beginners guide to rs3, if such a thing even exists.

My general runescape knowledge is pretty decent, however when I try to play rs3 I just have no idea what to do in the game. I tried making friends and looking for people to PvM with but every clan i joined is just dead, nobody talks to each other ect ect..

If anyone knows of a guide that explains things like, low/mid/high tier gears, low/mid/high tier bosses, training places from low to high levels and things like this please let me know!

It would be helpful if you posted your stats.

 

I can't imagine there is a guide spanning the whole game that includes everything that has been added since you left, but sites like the RS wiki are your friend. Also I recommend playing on a high-population world to help you find a clan and to get advice from other players.

Here you go, I believe this will help. It's not very detailed but a good place to get started.

 

Join a clan, this will be your best RS3 motivation. Just go on the RuneScape forums and find a clan that suits you. This is what keeps me playing and I find if I'm not in a clan I just don't have the motivation to keep playing. Goodluck

 

First start off in Legacy Interface, so the game looks more familiar for you.Then for first using the new combat system(abilities) use Revolution mode i believe its called, Its like auto attack with abilities, it does the work for you, thats the easiest way to ease into rs3, its working for me atm.Also Press escape key choose the button that looks like a quest symbol, then choose on the tab that says challenges, and work on your daily challenges each day, gets you familiar with things in rs3. Hope that helps a little.

 

Youtube is your friend buddy, watch a few videos to see how everything works and you'll adapt to it yourself.

 

Thanks everyone for the help! taking all of your comments into consideration, I have finally found an active clan and they are willing to answer some of my questions (though i'm trying not to bug them too much!) and I have started watching some rs3 youtubers.

seems like its going to take me a while to get into raids and high lvl pvm, working on getting curses and overloads for now and debating whether or not to make the money legit or just xfer from oldschool

I would suggest trying out OSRS, i just recently came back and started a new account. Theres a lot more active people and i've even joined an active clan. PM me if you're down to play OSRS, i'll add you.

I do play OSRS and i am quite active on there, and i'm also currently co-leading an OSRS clan which is alot of fun. I feel like RS3 offers something different now though, if i want the true old style of runescape i play oldschool but rs3 seems alot more immersive and in-depth which i still find exciting, i just need to pass that barrier of not knowing anything yet so that i can really enjoy the game

 

Well, my personal experience: I log onto rs3, I don't know what to do, I log off and check the next year.

That pretty much sums it all up!

 

I do the same thing haha.

 

Dailies/Weeklies/Monthlies are your friend to get a feel for some EXP, and then just start doing Slayer if you aren't already maxed. All of the skilling stuff has such a high EXP rate in eoc now that they're quick to do once you're maxed in slayer and you've made some gold. Do some bossing as well!

tbh rs3 is more like a fashion game now lol... everyone cares about pixxels etc

if you like to be wearing good looking items / gear then go for it... other than that it has tons of more bosses then osrs & if you like to be in groups to do stuff such as vorago, nex & raids, i i'm a solo player, i love to be able to do stuff by myself.... so yeh...

& if you want to "start playing rs3" just make goals, go for you're fav 120 cape or reach max / comp cape, perhaps certain pets or bank i myself have 8 or 9 120 capes lol 3 i got yesterday slayer / invention / summoning
