Quoting. How to know if someone has quoted you?

Well, I have an idea that would make posting and following posting a lot easier. However, I'm not sure how or if it could be done, and if it would be practical. So I need your feedback/info.

Here's my thoughts:
I like to post in a lot of different forums/threads. And I like to follow up what I have said and know what people say back to my comments. But I find that it takes a lot of time to go through my profile and find the threads that I have posted in and see if people have quoted me and responded to what I have said. So what I propose is this-Whenever someone quotes you/what you have said, you get a message, or a notification that someone has quoted your post, and a link to where it was posted, so that you can easily follow up and respond. I don't know if this is even possible, but it would be very nice and make sythe more enjoyable and more easy to navigate.

So, is something like this possible?

And, do you like/dislike the idea? What could be improved?

I like this idea as well, Billyy. This could be useful for debating, following up on posts and responding to others. I'm not sure if it's a possibility, but if someone could find a way to install a process such as that, I would support it.

 

I really like this idea too, I find alot of time, I have to go back into my posts to find where I posted, remember what it was about and see if anyone responded. This would save a ton of time

 

Even though i'm new so i don't have to look through many posts of mine to try to follow up on comments directed at me, i think this is a great idea as in the future when i have more posts it will be harder and take longer to look for things, so if there was a good way this could work, do it.

 

Expound? Why do you think this? And if you don't respond within the next 5 minutes, you will have just proven my point. Wouldn't it be nice to know what someone has said about you/about your post right after they said it? I think it would be..

I'm not sure what expound means but me not answering you with 5 minutes of that post doesn't mean anything to me. I could care less if someone quoted and responded to me. Like Verts said, if you wanna keep track, subscribe to the thread. It'd be damn annoying to come on sythe and have messages pop up all the time that someone quoted a single post you made, let alone single posts in like 10 different threads. I still don't support.

 

Expound means explaining yourself in detail. And that would mean that I would have to subscribe to every thread that I made an intelligent comment in that I think might be quoted and responded to. And they wouldn't have to pop up, necessarily. They could just be in a separate section in user cp. When you click user cp, there could be a section called "quotes" or something, and you click on it, and it tells you how many times you were quoted and where. I would rather click one button to find out where I was quoted than 10+ every day checking the threads that I have posted in to see if someone has responded to what I said. I agree with you that it would be annoying if they popped up like Private Messages do, but I never intended it to be that way and it shouldn't be that way if it is implemented into sythe.

But you have your opinion, and I respect that. I just think that it would "sything" a lot easier to navigate for most people.
