Update to Vouches

My idea is simple, remove vouch threads. Now before you all get up on your high horses, my alternative is to incorporate them into the profile of the user, similar to post count. You would go to their profile and submit a vouch for them, similar to posting on a Facebook wall. This would raise their vouch count if you click a vouch button. Now, when the user posts, there is a vouch number below their post count, which, when clicked, will lead to their vouches. This would make it much less necessary to spam "HERE IS MY VOUCH LIST GUYZZ" and would make vouching much easier. Again, just my thoughts, sorry for the double new threads in the suggestion forums.

I wouldn't mind this idea. It could be like the user note function, but with everybody can see it.

 

Exactly. It would mean that people would probably vouch more/give negative feedback easier rather than just not doing it because they can't be bothered finding the thread/posting/proving their point. This would be a much simpler, cleaner method. Only thing is I don't know how hard it would be to code it into the forums code.

 

This actually sounds like a really good idea, it makes a lot of sense, it would be great if this was added in.

Does anybody have an idea of whether this would take ages to implement though, or whether it would be relatively simple? I'm horrible with any coding language besides VB/HTML lol...

 

I know vB4 brings a change to user's profiles, so it's possible this could be brought in with vB4.

 

I like this as it wouldn't require you to have to constantly update your vouches(I'm one of those people who likes to have them all a little organized in one spot rather than having to flip through pages).

...So long as people don't resort to using it to post a bunch of nonsense.

If it can be done, doesn't take to much effort for the moderators to regulate and can't be abused at all, then yes, I support

 

I've suggested this and got shut down right away. It's obvious that this should be implemented.

 

This has my support, if it were made correctly, it would be a lot more convenient and pracitcal than the current system.

 

The only problem with this would be false feedback, while with the current vouch system can be pretty much ignored, this system would require mods to look into the feedback and verify if it's false.

It'd be more work for the staff.

 

It isn't exactly a Rep/Thanks button. Basically, he's suggesting that your vouches are placed in your profile instead of on a thread. From here, a little number goes up with each vouch. It's almost the same.

 

Isn't that what happens with a vouch count? We commonly see [500+ Vouches] and whatnot in thread titles. I think the main reason a Rep/Thanks system isn't wanted is because it's such a drastic change to the current system.

 

I support it it would be a lot easier for a lot of reasons, being able to see the vouches not having to have the pesky threads, but on the flip side of that is it is a big change to everything that people are used to.. But I still support

 

There's already false vouches, and it's not hard to catch them.

As for giving false feedback because of whatever reason, you should be able to report that. Like on powerbot.

 

You guys are forgetting that this has been suggested a million times and that it's been denied every time. Arguing the pros and cons of this is fairly useless because FireZ will be around to lock this.

 

Because it couldn't be implemented in this vb version.

 

It would also stop people from claiming other peoples vouches as their own (although easy to prove it's not really theirs - it's still a nice benefit).

But what happens to all old vouches? Do they just get deleted? How would we put them all on this new thing?
