Merging xbox with other games

The other games section isn't nearly as cluttered as it was before, but it still needs to be polished up a bit. For starters we need to merge the xbox section with "other games". Why? The xbox section is only a little bit active, and it creates a divide in that area of the forum.

For example: A user wants to discuss skyrim, does he post in xbox, or in other rpgs? Another user wants to discuss Call of Duty, does he post in first person shooters, or in xbox? And then another user wants to discuss Halo Wars, does he post in xbox, or in strategy and tactical?

The xbox sections needs to be merged to get rid of these complications. Not only will it make things clearer, but the activity that the xbox section would be getting, would then be put in to the other games section instead. This could possibly give the other games section some forward momentum to finally get these going in there.

Next we have to discuss how the sections would be merged in the first place. This is what I suggest for the layout:

-> = Section
---> = Subsection

-> MMO
--->WoW
--->Diablo
--->Other
-> First Person Shooters
-> RPG's
-> Strategy and Tactical
-> Handheld
-> Indie & Misc.
-> Console Communities
--->Xbox
--->PS3
--->PC

This would be an airtight layout that would be organized, and would leave nothing out. Now you may have noticed I added the MMO and Console Communities section. I felt the MMO section was necessary because "MMO" in itself has become a genre. We also have two MMOs (Diablo and WoW) as their own section, but they are hardly active. Putting them under 1 section would eliminate clutter/confusion, and would make much more sense.

I also added the console communities section(s) to cover the clans/guilds/screenshots/videos posts that occasionally make an appearance on sythe. These sections wouldn't be terribly active, but they are necessary to keep everything organized and neat.

Edit: I just noticed "League of Legends" was under "Other rpgs", and this makes no sense to me. LoL is hardly a role playing game, and should be listed under strategy & tactical, or the MMO section I suggested instead.

 

I belive that Strategy and Tactical and Handheld should be merged into Indie / Misc since they are extremely inactive as it is

 

The specific genres are there so that no one is left wondering where to post at any time. However, I think they could possibly work as just subsections of Indie/Misc.

 

If youre talkin the Xbox market also no. The rest is fine.

I agree. The xBox section is hardly as active as I think the staff hoped or thought it would be, and it does take up a bit of room. I think a move to the Other Games section would be a healthy choice.

I'm fine with placing xbox, ps3 and PC together under a Gaming communities subsection. It'd be more appropriate than what we currently have.

 

Ok then it can be called "Gaming Communities" or something of that nature.

Xbox market itself would need to be on the front page, it receives a lot of traffic. The discussions etc are kind of inactive currently however

 

From seeing SuF's market redesign thread, it seems that the Xbox market won't be on the front page - a link to the consoles market will be instead.

Yeah I'm not too chuffed about that and I think DjWeasel may be quite upset also, he doesn't want to lose his baby off the front page.

This has nothing to do with the market, it's for the discussions section.

 

The discussions sections, hmm.

There has been a bit of talk with making PS3 an actual market and stuff and calling the section "consoles".

If this were to happen I think that PS3 and Xbox Market should be on the front page and then allow for PS3 or other console discussion there also. Perhaps they should merge all of the xbox discussion threads however, only general actually gets some attention.
