    When is an account 'safe'

So I bought an account maybe 5 or 6 years ago, when all of those cool names were getting recovered left right and centre.

I've played it since then no worries, but between then and now it's been locked 3 times, all of these times I've been able to unlock it within 1-2 tries.

I've got a shit-load of information, every pass I've used, every recovery, 3 or 4 credit-card pins, 10-15 phone pins, ip address from then to now. A shit load.

Hasn't been locked in a year to two years. Do you think it'll ever be 'safe' or do you think jagex will ever ban those that were sold around this time?

The original owner will ALWAYS be able to recover the account. Unfortunately, Jagex places a RIDICULOUS amount of weight on the creation information in the recovery process. After five or six years though, odds are pretty good that the original owner does not care/forgot about that account. So you're most likely good anyway.

sadly it is true jagex puts 90% of the weight on creation info like i just recently was hacked of a suicide botting account i made that i suicide botted fishing on.. and i had only 1 password and the creation info nothing else and i still got it back in like 2 hours... its pretty ridiculous...

^Lol, today I recovered an account I made, then forgot all about EIGHT YEARS AGO (never logged in though, so they just had it on tutorial island) with absolutely nothing but a possible old password and the city and approximate date I created it.

You have a lot of information, probably more than the original owner, so it should be in safe hands.

Oldest information wins, but you have a lot of payment information which Jagex looks for mainly.

I bought an account in 2005, recently the guy emailed me and said he's recovering it but then it didn't work :)

So yeah, it's most likely safe :)

Your account is safe, you have all the information that is needed. If anything,
the occourances of the locks mean the cracker has very limited/mild information
on your account. Possibly 1 password, or 1 guess of your ISP.

From what I've heard is that after 6 months, if the account hasn't been played on, you can recover it with just previous passwords and bullsht the rest of the questions. You should be safe. Regulary change the password (like every other month). Also keep recoveries and emails. Email is a must because it's one of the things like membership info and IP address that Jagex looks at mostly. If you've been playing on that account with the same IP for 2 years, then your set.
