How to dispute friends and family?

Recently I sent $72 to a scammer via friends and family. I'm wondering if there is anyway I can dispute to get my money back without disputing as unauthorized claim? I tried disputing as an unauthorized claim but I mean it's obvious I made the claim because its from my IP etc.

 

Can you tell me what u used the $72 for? What product?

 

Virtual goods. Tried to buy a runescape account

 

Are you comfortable calling them and explaining it?

Runescape accounts aren't against PayPal's TOS as their a virtual good.

There is indeed another way you can dispute called "non-receipt" dispute, its the type of dispute that virtual sellers like myself always loved because it was easy for the seller to win(U typically just need a picture of something like a trade screen and a story and u could win).

If you did authorize the purchase(which you did) here's what I'd suggest:

If you paid it via a debit,credit or bank, contact your bank immediately and tell them that you were scammed by a online fraud and would like the money to be disputed/put on hold, the process may take up to 90 days but you will get your money back(Banks almost never lose, paypal is just the median party) also if you dispute it through your credit card company(if that's what you paid via), it charges the scammer an extra $20.00-$25.00 fee even if he somehow wins.

If you used paypal balance, this is where paypal is the sole mediator, I would advise you to dispute it as non-receipt, write exactly what happened and include links and pictures of the scammers banned profiles and show his IP and whatnot so u can conclusively link his banned scamming account to that paypal account, then call paypal and ask for a note to be made on the case regarding u calling in and ask them if theres anything they can do.

If you get a unhelpful agent simply hang up and call back until you get a good one, I am personally favorable to a woman in their disputes department named Samantha, so if you get her, shes good.

 

Okay cool. How would I dispute as non-receipt? I just need to call and say this is how I want to dispute and provide them with info?

 

I think theres an actual option when you go to dispute in paypal it offers up a menu asking you how you want to dispute it.

Calling and disputing it would work to, but if I recall right u can go to ur resolution center and dispute it as non-receipt from there.

 

Only getting these two options when trying to dispute but first option doesn't work.

 

2nd option, if its not a goods and services payment I imagine it wont let you use the first.
