Reformation Of Account Rentals & Other Services

According to the rules of the RAS section (link to rules here), users aren't allowed to provide staking services for Sythe members, but I feel as if this was wrongly grouped with merching and investing services as these two could easily be manipulated into showing losses or false gains in which the service provider profits more than they have actually earned. As we've seen in the past, staking services with clans have flourished with successful and legitimate services from MM/KoW302 in 07 and a continuation of KoW302 (sow54) and Elite Ranks in Rs3. These clans were allowed to advertise their services across the forum, which IS a staking service, yet individual users aren't allowed to. Also, I feel as if people were allowed to provide staking services, it would clean up A LOT of the muck that fills up the RAS section as there are several people getting maxed main renters banned, recovers, etc. A large reason that I feel like this rule should be changed is that many legitimate people who provide maxed main rentals seems to be one of the most risky service providers currently as someone can RWT, bot, etc. on their accounts for a mere 2m-5m on an account worth anywhere from x150-x60 the hourly rental service is. This would create a safety net for lots of these maxed main rental providers as they already are considered trusted as people put billions of GP on their accounts already.

I believe there should be a removal of this rule, but with some requirements if someone provides this service. A list of my recommended requirements for people to provide a staking service:

• STREAM! This is the most important thing of it all. The stream can cut off the service provider's RSN as it is considered against Runescape TOS to commission stake, but the stream must be on during the entirety of the stake along with showing the challenge and staking options too.
• RECORDINGS! Those providing this service must record ALL sessions. Streaming providers such as Twitch and Hitbox offer onsite stream recording so people don't have to fill up their SSD/HDD with hundreds of gigs of recording their stakes.
• COMMISSION! Those providing this service should only take commission if they win the stake. In my view, this is a service that should only be rewarded if you're making customers money, plus it makes it easier to stake for people when you're doing even amounts of cash like 500M instead of like 462.5M (7.5% commission example). This is one of my more controversial stipulations, but I can understand if people feel as if it is up to those providing the service as well.
• BANS! There should be a safety net for those providing the service as it IS considered against RuneScape's terms of service to stake gold for other people. Some might say those betting should be refunded, but you have to take into consideration THEY are taking the risk as well when trading GP over for an illegal service. There should be a SOLID system to verify that the account is banned as well (currently haven't thought of one, but I am brainstorming) and they aren't possibly faking a ban for a billion gold pieces of someone else's gold.
• SCAMS! Scamming in the duel arena is definitely a rampant issue that many stakers face, but not an issue a bettor should be facing. If a person providing the service is scammed for a stake, they are entitled to refund the entirety of the bet to the bettor to prevent users from getting fake-scammed to profit billions from unsuspecting customers.

In conclusion, a staking service would be profitable for both the bettors and service providers as those giving the service get a decent commission for winning, while the bettor profiting from 50/50 stakes and not running the risk of bullshit expiration times on accounts. Given numerous security requirements to provide this service that gives NO leeway for scamming, I would not see an issue with a reformation towards this rule as it could potentially turn a toxic section such as RAS into one of the most active and sought after ones now.

Your essentially wanting to allow commission staking services in the account rentals section is from what I gathered from this wall of text.

That's fine by me.

The requirements however are a bit more iffy, I can see how they are needed to prevent people from faking winning a stake etc but at the same time you limit the market to those who can stream.

However I sometimes share the opinion the free market does need restricted in particular areas(name sales, account sales, etc) I share a similar opinion with rentals, it has a high scam rate and is difficult to prove scams.

I'll support this with SET requirements defined by a staff in a sticky(whether they use ur chosen requirements can be determined by staff).

Needs tight regulations, but how would you regulate certain issues properly? If a user's net goes down right before the start of a huge stake for example, ends up losing a 1B stake...who is at fault? Was it preplanned and he staked his mate or was it an honest accident? Who is accountable, the staker or the people who paid in?

 

That would fall under a mix of responsibility of the host and the bettor too. A rule within commission staking clans on Rs3 is that if your net goes down or you miss first hit, and you lose by more than 475 HP (max hit of poly), you aren't entitled to refund the bet, but if you lose by less than that you MUST refund the bet. In a situation of a net going down for an extended period of time, it is your responsibility as a host to protect your IP from DDoS attacks.

If it is a scenario that is COMPLETELY out of the host's control like a ban, then proper proof would have to be complied to prove it and not just a false claim.

People could complain that the person who is staking may not be using the attack style they wanted or may have done something different. You would have to have certain rules then to prevent this for example agree what attack style is going to be used before the stake and if the person wants pid switching or not. If there are detailed rules set in place then this could work out well.

I support this only if there are clear rules to prevent any arguments such as about the attack style used.

Commission staking would be an interesting thing to be "legitimised" on sythe I've actually only just realised it was against the rules. Support for its removal and dropperz suggestion.

 

wouldnt be hard to prove if you were scammed as the person would be required to stream as dropperz said and you could record the stream

 

I've been a great supporter of allowing commission staking on sythe. Users should be allowed to stake for others. The removal of rs3 commission clans has opened up a huge market for sythe users.

 

I suggest that if this goes forward it should probably be streamed on Youtube and be made semi-private (ie. buy-in or minimum necessary bet to get the stream URL,) would be quite easy to flag otherwise

Definitely a recommendation for the stream to be listed as private so only people with the stream link can see the stakes happening to prevent those die hard RS fanboys from reporting.

 

I'd recommend join.me to stream in private, only give the stream ID to the people your staking for.

 

Doesnt need to be just youtube. I use join.me and its simple/easy

 

I believe as a stream is risky that a screen share on skype is more likely or another form, recording is a must though.

 

Streating services allow you to set streams to private if I remember correctly so only those with a link can see, if not, people can just use join.me or any generic stream on hitbox as they aren't affiliated with jagex like twitch.

 

Support, this would be much better for both better and host/renter.

 

Sounds good to me, people keep bringing up the risks with this but there are risks with most services on sythe so they're pretty irrelevant (in regards to no support votes; obviously rules would need to be put in place)
