In the real world, self evaluation's like saying that you are trusted mean nothing. Your qualifications or actions should be an example to show that you are trusted. I propose not allowed the word trusted to be used in thread titles as it is misleading for those who are unaware of how things work and let the customers decide for themselves if the user is trustworthy or not from their vouches, etc.

Also, when making a User Title it says this:
    - Staff-related words and titles are forbidden! (Ex. admin, mod, official, staff, trusted, etc.)

If it's banned from user titles, why not ban it from thread titles?

I support this... this is definitely a good suggestion. Its so annoying when you go through markets and people say they are "trusted" and crap when they are obviously not (mostly done by newcomers or dinosaurs without vouches). Its misleading towards the viewer.

It's been talked about, and I think the consensus was laziness.

jk, but seriously, there are thousands of threads with [TRUSTED] tags, and unless we could efficiently remove them all, how can we punish/rectify some breaches of this suggested rule and not others? Not to mention, we shouldn't have to hold the hands of every market user who takes [TRUSTED] title tags in stride without first researching SIMPLY THEIR VOUCHES to see if they really are to be trusted...

People need to learn that they can't just trade with any old user without practicing safe trading methods, and not expect to run into the shadier users of sythe once in a while...

Previous discussions aside, my personal opinion is that yes, it should be prohibited, but there's still the logistics of cleaning it out of the titles of thousands of threads, enforcing the rule on the hundreds of new threads weekly, and keeping up to speed with it all at the same time.

Just do it by spam reports. Make an announcement to raise awareness of it and then several people will realize its against the rules and at the very least, to be on an even keel with the opposition market threads, will report them. This will also make the modlog whore mods happy (you know who you guys are )

No support, if people can put [#1 Gold seller] or [$100000000 gold sold] in their thread title, then [TRUSTED] should be allowed.

If you go on a website that says freeipods.com and it asks for your credit card information, but it says trusted in the banner, are you going to assume it's legit?

It's been brought up before, and here's what I thought about (copy paste):

This suggestion implies that all thread tags which contain qualitative characteristics should be banned; there is no reason why for example the tag 'trusted' should be banned, yet 'reliable' not.

That aside, I don't really support it. I don't believe this form of regulation is at all necessary. You'll notice that the top gold sellers typically don't tag words such as 'trusted', probably due to the fact that they have other more prestigious accolades to advertise, such as [10000000 vouches]. Thus, the preponderance of people who use tags such as 'trusted' will typically be from people with less accolades to advertise, and who are likely less 'trusted' then the big sellers.

If a lot of people really are using the tag 'trusted', then there's no need to regulate it. If everyone is using the same tag in the thread, the tag becomes devalued, and consumers will not look at it favorably. If it is the case that not very many people are using the tag, then the regulation is rather trivial.

Let's not restrict subjective advertising tags, let people advertise their business the way they want, and consumers will be the judge of which advertising technique is most efficacious and in accordance with their wants.

Now that that has been stated, I agree with you actually. [Trusted] can't really be singled out of all the qualitative characteristic thread title tags. I've requested a close on this thread.

Was going to say the same, for example I trust people who are community involved whilst they're trading, that people know and have gone first with that have no problems but others will still say "Nah if it's not staff, fuck that for a bunch of soldiers."

I don't know anybody who would trust somebody with more just because they say they're trusted in their title. Removing it would do nothing, they can just say they're trusted over Skype or MSN. It's just marketing, people go around saying "#1 Gold Seller on Sythe" all the time, when really we all know there can only be one #1 gold seller. People do this all the time in real life to boost sales, no support.

This really. This has been talked about 9000 times before and I doubt we will change it this time.

Maybe staff decide who can use it and who can't, based on quality of vouches etc. TBH if people are dumb enough to trade based on [trusted] they aren't paying attention.

Waste of staff's time really. Personally i just ignore [Trusted] sign. most of the time they are untrusted that use it.
