    Arguments only, no statements.

This applies to lower and upper tier crimes.

No, have you seen some jails?

They have Computers, Tvs, Ipods everything and its free...

I have currently been building jails, over 4600 Add on Jails. Each Jail costs around $140,000 and about 3 Days to build, thats all coming out of Tax Payers money, for a bunch of low lifes.

Sorry, I say there needs to be somthing alot worse for Murders ect.

Only for the higher tier punishments. What's worse; a painless execution, or wasting away is a jail for the rest of your life with no chance to leave.

But for the lower tiers, jail isn't appropriate. Correctional programs/classes perhaps for the petty crimes.

Are you kidding me with this?

Yes it does separate them from society and stops them from committing crimes but it comes from tax payers money to house these guys. Also come jails they have tv's and they can listen to ipods and music while they play basketball or work out ect. It's barely a punishment if your mom takes away your ipod and cell phone as a punishment but you still have your x box and computer to use.

No. I don't think it is. I have no idea of any alternatives though..

Mostly because of the way it turns alright people, who have committed a single one off offence, into hardened criminals. It puts criminals in contact with other criminals.

A guy my dad knew went down for fraud. All his businesses were shut and possessions seized.. A week after he came out he was driving a £50,000 BMW. The people he was in prison with were in for the same things, and they basically swapped ideas/techniques.

But, like I say, although it isn't perfect and is expensive, I can't think of any other alternatives.

Not the kind of prisons we have now.

Upper tier criminals do not deserve to live off taxpayer money and at no expense of their own. If you are against execution, banish them to an island in the pacific.

Lower tier criminals can be housed in correctional facilities and/or attend mandatory classes regularly.

Death Penalty, but they have to be sentenced to it to qualify.

Death penalty used more often for the more hanus crimes such as multi-murder and child rapes etc etc

I can agree to that but on the 2nd or 3rd offense its obvious they don't get it.

    Not an arguement....

What about the bad criminals who turn good?

Right, because shipping people is so much cheaper (rolls eyes)

That was the beauty of Alcatraz. It was in the middle of the SF bay, had room for a lot of people, had upper tier crimes and death row, nothing else. Just a day to sit and think why you're there. No one ever escaped. Some have tried, but none have ever been confirmed.

    An eye for an eye.

Someone shouldn't get 3 meals a day on my expense for murdering someone.

There have been a few who escaped Alcatraz, what they can't escape is the San Francisco Bay waters.

I would suggest something cruel many won't agree with it.

For criminals with multiple offenses should be given death by execution. Now people say it's an ''easy'' way out you guys make it sound like they are gonna be reincarnated years later or they are getting a bad lashing then sent back into the world. These guys will be no longer and threat to society and will not be supported off tax payers money.

Now i suggest multiple offenses because someone can end up in jail for killing a guy because he was protecting his family ect. One offense does not warrant death but if the person insists on being a criminal and not accepting that behavior is not tolerated he shouldn't be able to ravage the streets and then get sent to prison and relax and make friends. Also the law needs to be looked at i mean seriously if i kill a guy for invading my home and comes on my property and i warned him to get off my land and he is a serious threat to my life and my family i shouldn't be sent to prison.

If the man is unarmed you shouldn't kill him or running away.

It is. Just cram them all into a barge like they did during the days of the slave trade. That hardly costs anything compared to the money that would be spent housing, feeding, clothing, and confining them all.

I laugh at the people who say "prison is too nice". You people obviously have never seen what a federal prison is like. Also i don't believe in OUR prison system. I think it should only be used to the people detrimental to our society. People with actual psychological problems that need help. Prisons should also focus on rehabilitating people, rather than making it as miserable as possible. By doing this it would cut down spending(seeing as less people would be in prison), and i think it would actually help the prisoners who truly can't control themselves.

A man being stuck in a cell for the most part of the day is unnatural. Although I fully agree that murderers, rapists etc need to be punished, it should be more severe and if you ask me prison is not the way to go.

No, it hardly fixes people, if anything, it just encourages further offenses. Instead, we should invest more in rehabilitation. Sending people to prison/the death penalty both are extremely spendy, and a waste of money in my opinion.
