[Denied] Stop skype

Suggesting on making a new sticky in market section stating you should not trade via skype, and making skype reports invalid without a pm.

Why?
Because no one actually uses it to trade anymore and it's easier to hack than to not piss on your own fingers.



Open for discussion on how to make this more viable, because this is going to get out of hand eventually.

Discord is way safer too

 

Skype are still being used, but not too often, so I can’t see why it should be a direct DO NOT TRADE on Skype.

You are, just as on Sythe and Discord, possible to do a two-factor Authenticator. This is just a reminder to be more carefull..

Support that we should no longer openly advertise/encourage Skype as a forum of communication.

Do not support suggesting skype reports are invalid unless the victim requested a Sythe PM.
The burden of responsibility still lies upon the Skype owner to ensure that their account remains secure.

 

I don't support not supporting Skype anymore. I think you'd be confused how many people still use Skype. Myself I'd still prefer to use Skype over Discord for trading purposes, but sadly I'm not thinking like the majority does.

Here's my opinion on this.

First off, I want to give a big thanks to Tigeris for the suggestion.

Although I almost got royally fucked by someone hacking my skype and trying to frame/extort me for $15,000, I believe that Skype shouldn't be abolished completely.

I will be abolishing it on my end, however, I know some traders have longtime customers who only use Skype.

My suggestion is to
1. Definitely discourage the use of skype. It's outdated and rarely used anyways. Even though I had phone 2fa on my Skype, they were still able to access without my knowledge in my sleep.
2. Require Sythe PMs for Skype trades. Apparently there was a huge (one of the biggest known to date) database breeches/leaks, and Skype may be included in that. The hackers never touched my Sythe, only my Skype, so if Sythe PMs were required, it would be harder to extort/frame and for innocent users to get scammed due to a hack.

 

I dont see a reason to disallow Skype just because one user was hacked and users supposedly got 'scammed'. It can happen to a discord account aswell. Same parallel can be drawn as to not using telegram/whatsapp to trade because no one uses them. Before 2018 and so on Skype was very prevalent and many people still use it. There will and always be scammers and imposters on every messaging platform so removing a certain messaging platform isn't a solution.

Best solution would be to confirm trades through PM if the customer asks/wants to or push that all trades should be confirmed on sythe through PM if you wish to go that route.

If you are dealing on different messengers you should 100% make sure you fully secure them with 2FA and change passwords regularly.

 

The problem with skype is that none of these precautions will help you, their security is a complete joke, that's the point of the suggestion.

 

Support. Skype has been an extremely outdated source of contact for years now. This should have happened awhile ago.
Things like what happened with @QBD recently wouldn't happen if we just eliminated it as a contact method.

 

Do not support. I took a break from trading and was disappointed when I came back to find out discord had taken over. Skype is a lot simpler to use as a form of communication.

I don’t see how it’s easier to hack. It’s up to the account owner to keep their account secure. You can’t disregard a communication platform on the experience of one user getting hacked.

 

I support if Skype hacks imply people get away with 15k$ debts without repaying.

But wouldn't be an issue with fair and transparent moderation, so it's a dilemma.

I mean, if you do any sort of trade without a sythe pm, it is, in my opinion, natural selection. But yeah, i guess that this old fashion way of communicating is not popular anymore.
