Auto-Ban after being inactive for 90 days.

    Hi Sythers,

I am proposing a way to stop inactive users from getting hacked from future problems such as Hotmail exploits where they are not on to protect themselves or even just a general hacking.

I am saying that if it is possible for all inactive accounts that have not been logged into for 90 days receive a ban until they dispute it. The rank could have a special rank called INACTIVE USER or something just to help to protect those taking time off from Sythe or people who have quit from their accounts scamming people.

I suggested something just like this but mainly pertaining to high profile accounts like ex-mods and high dollar donars (that whole pen shenanigan was fairly recent is why i mentioned exmods) a few months back. Everyone was like nooo thatll hurt my butt too bad ect dont do that wahhh.

Support. Some special recovery questions to get the account back so its not as simple as a hacker getting control of an email account. (which lets face it is easy as fuck.)

EDIT: The main focus of my idea was ex mod accounts because of (then) recent exmod hackings. Now maybe this will get more support due to the hackings of any and all users as of late. If it were a special "inactive" rank i see it as nothing harmful to ones repuatation and it would then take another potentially hacked account off the table.

The mods already have many disputes to deal with but if they are up for more sure why not? The users would have to be prepared to wait like 1 week as well before their disputes get answered.

Meh, if a user goes inactive for 90 days they don't really plan on coming back for a while anyway there won't be that many disputes.

I think 90 days is maybe a bit extreme, although some sort of system would be useful. Alternatively just SRB if you plan to leave for a while/forever.

No support, we'd have to triple the staff team to handle all the disputes...as a start.

I dont support the 90 days one, but i do think a year long inactive ban would be a good idea. As with 90 days, sometimes people could have computer problems e.t.c. and not be able to afford a repair/upgrade/new computer for a while. My old computer died and it took me 3 months to get the cash together for a new one in which time i would have been banned.

If it was a year, I think it would cause less trouble and less work for the staff and would in general work a lot more efficiantly.

I like the idea of the recovery question to access your account, very smart.

I have been a user that Has been away for 90 days, but am still active sometimes for weeks on end. (the elongated inactivity is for many personal reasons.) anyway, I feel that after 90 days a recovery question such as "What city were you born in?" and stuff like that. However, the disputes are a really unneeded thing. The user could be slapped with an "Inactive User" Title until they answer the recovery question, then the old title comes back.

No support, there's always people who log on once every so long to sell/buy something... they surely aren't going to wait a week to get unbanned

This is a suggestion, no one said BANNED (in traditional sense anyways, new rank "inactive") and no one said how to get it removed. If it were cut and dry and people would have to wait a fucking week it sounds like you wouldn't support, we get it.

Instead of posting support or no support people should be coming up with ways to better the suggestion while still fulfilling its necessary purpose: account safety.

But what if the recovery process only applied if the account is being used by a different IP??? Then you could just come right back on and get back to being active, something needs to be done about inactive accounts being recovered/hacked and then being used maliciously. Instead of hearing someone say it might take a week to reactivate an account (which is pure speculation) and thinking thats the way it is think of alternatives and or workarounds. Regardless, a recovery type question and or IP check would get it sorted out with little to no actual human work. You either remember your recovery or not, you either post from your IP or not.

Like i mentioned in my original post lol. I think the recovery process should only be started if they are posting from a different IP to begin with. That way there is no funny business.

Well something needs to be done, as soon as a exploit comes around all the inactive accounts get fucked over.

I think it would deter inactive people from coming back if they all had to deal with a dispute in order to gain access to Sythe again.

Maybe a recovery question would be a good idea, but those that haven't activated it are still at risk. Support of recov question, not of ban though.
