Need help with maths.

Line L is perpendicular to X=(Y^2)-4. If L passes through (0,p) and (5,t) what is the maximum slope of L

 

is there anymore info? seems to be missing a part

thats problem dosent make sense. if it is a y squared problem then its a parabola not a line unless you didnt mean to put the y squared in there

 

That's exactly what it says, isn't it only parabola when X is squared?

 

Yea something is worng with that problem, if you simplify it you'll get y=sqrt(x) + 2 which isn't (I think) a parabola.

 

well its the same shape as a parabola except instead of opening upwards it it opens to the right. this makes it no longer a function and i think only functions are parabolas but i could be wrong.

@itzkirby: if your going to try and simplfy thats not what your going to get, and for these types of equations you generaly graph them rather than simplify. If you were to graph the transformations on that graph the origin would be (-4,0) and the two key points would be (-3,1) and (-3,-1).
